Good advice for the digital data addicts. I wont give a damn if my system fail at any given moment. I dont mind losing digital data of any kind...

yeah i know that many people have files from work etc which are very important, but i dont, and even if i had i think i wouldnt care.

You wouldn't care losing months of work?

I have no job, i have no soul, i have no hope.
but if i had months of work saved on my pc then yes i might cared a byte or two.
im just expressing my lack of f*cks about losing things like game saves, photos, movies, songs etc...things that the most people consider important. Like my brother who has about 2 TERA of movies songs and wtv the fuck you can imagine.he stacks up HDD's like a damn builder stacks the bricks.

I wouldn't mind most of those either..except for maybe game saves in which I made a long progress.
And don't lose hope - I know it can be utterly depressing not finding anything again and again, but keep searching for a job. You're bound to find something eventually. Don't give up. You can do it.

Nah... it didn't help me at all...

Short story:

My laptop was piece of overheating junk from the very beginning… but since last month its performance was even worse… that’s why I decided to try heavy artillery (format disc + reinstalling windows)… somewhere in the middle of windows installation BAM laptop overheated… since then I can’t do a thing… even simple task as trying to “reload” backup results in overheating and turning off pc… so yeah… poor me...

All my monthly backups didn't help at all...

(ok... I'm gonna cry now :()

if you format a disc no matter how many backups you ve done, all will be erased.
Nevertheless, have you tried pulling the HDD out and connecting it to another machine to see what you can recover?

Why would I make backup on my internal disc :)

Nah I have my external disc and I always upload important files to cloud. That way I can access them no matter what happens. Probably I could somehow repair it… but I’m too impatient for that, packed it and sent to repair (warranty)

But thx

Sounds like it did help you considering you didn't lose any of your files? Nobody said backing up was supposed to magically fix broken computers.

Well you are right... copying files to server can also be called backup...

I heard exactly the same thing from service :) That's kinda the most obvious thing right? So it was the very first thing I did when I first saw overheathing (2 weeks after buying laptop).

But I'm guessing it's probably fault of wrong construction design. Dual graphic cards are kinda risky in laptop... probably inefficient heat dissipation. Even cooling pads didn't help... so that's weird... but it was on warranty so maybe they will manage to repair it (or exchange it for better model :P but that's probably unlikely_

I'm curious, which is your model? I'm not a fan of gaming laptops. Their performance may be good but they are too bulky to move around comfortably, too noisy to play undisturbed, too warm for their own good and too expensive! At that point you might just split your budget in two and spend half in a decent laptop and the other half in a decent desktop that will outperform the gaming laptop.

Jajajaja I wouldn't call it "gaming laptop" it was normal one mainly for working purpose... well but I won't lie I was using it also for games...

That's Samsung 355c5c with AMD A10-4600M processor

Imagine laptop that was overheating after about 40 minutes of playing Little Inferno... I know that this game is HOT... but well... frankly speaking it was working on my telephone better than on my laptop... you can't call it normal right?

It was definitely broken from the very beginning… but I kept telling myself “it’s just laptop what did you expect?” so I didn’t decide to return it for repairs… but when I saw the deal with little inferno… I kinda snapped…

Oh and btw. It was working “fine” with detailed graphics… but that overheating… was too problematic.

Oh, I see. When you said dual graphics I thought you meant SLI or Crossifire with two dedicated GPU. What you have is an APU and a dedicated GPU; there is no reason for something like that to overheat unless there was a defect from the beginning or you seriously abuse it, eg placing it on a carpet or letting it collect too much dust. Broken from the beginning it was then.

For bonus points test that you can actually restore with your backup, before you need it. :)

I use git to synchronise my stuff between my server, my two desktops and my laptop. The computers are in two different locations and use two different kinds of storage media. I should be fine :D

Git for backups and synchronizing? Are you serious? It's a version control tool. I hope you don't commit binaries like images or mp3 to the repository -_-'
Sorry, but that is definitely NOT what git should be used for ^^

Aside data corruption or a cmplete death of the storage device, you can always restore files. (as long as you don't wait too long to restore them)

for me the headache is finding and installing all the drivers after a clean install of the OS >> (you can easily spend half a day after a clean install)
