Yes I know, Early Access is a much abused system but I got sucked into the hype for Of Kings And Men and have bought it. Anyone else planning to give it a go/interested in it?

EDIT: I've written a review if anyone is interested in my take on it.

Will You Buy Of Kings And Men?

No idea, never heard of it before
There were no potatoes in Medieval Europe so no chance
Already Pre-ordered & ready to hack you to bits this evening
I might possibly buy the early access version, let's see the reviews first
I'll wait for the full release (if it ever happens)
I'll pick it up when I see it in a sale
I'm sure to pick it up in a bundle at some time in the future

Well, another Reign of Kings. :P There are already many similar games to it. :/ BTW, Chivalry sucks. :P

Chivalry sucks

The game or chivalry in general? ;)

Well, another Reign of Kings

The initial consensus seems to be that OKAM is what Reign Of Kings combat should have been

I'm not very good at these games, may get it on a good discount

I hope for you the game resembles the footage shown in the trailer because a lot of devs exploit that to get preorders as you said.

I can assure it resembles nothing like shown in the trailer. I watched gameplay. It looks bad.

Just had a quick 45 minutes playing it and the footage is similar to the videos if you bear in mind that only combat has been enabled - which is clearly stated. No hiding many issues but nothing I wouldn't expect from the first hour or so of an early access release (servers down under load, hit detection a bit random etc.)

Cool. I'll have to keep an eye on it to see where it goes. Hopefully it gets some love.

another pvp game that will be imbalanced and full of cheaters.

unless the dev proves ^this^ wrong, but that usually doesn't happen.

To me, "Early Access" means "We will just take the money, never finish this game, and eventually make a minimal patch to claim it's finished in a few months/years", unless proven otherwise, as there are some games that do show promise and development is steady, but it's an actual minority.

So no, no EAX games for me, unless I get them in a bundle (i.e. Savage Lands) or developer shows his intention of honoring his promises (i.e. Empyrion Galactic Survival).

I just checked on Steam and no sign of it yet; Is that just because it's a long way off or have they taken the decision to not release on Steam?

It's still a long way off. I'm not too sure if they've said anything in regards to the release date, but I'm guessing it'll release sometime in 2017.

they could also have taken the decision to not do preorders xD

Yess, I preordered it. Their development roadmap looks straight forward. I'm hoping for the best

Did you get chance to try it out last night? Personally I was pleasantly surprised. Very addictive and seemed to live up to what the DEVs promised on early release

Indeed! I liked it as well and once The Epic gets fully implemented, it could get my favorite chivalry game. Well, I definitly need some more practice with the combat mechanics though. I suck so bad haha

Too expensive for me, I'll probably pick it up in a bundle or something.

It's been pretty active over the last 24+ hours. They seem very involved with their player base

So basically you start as a peasant against knights that can insta-kill you? the game looked like mount and blade, so I was interested, but the peasant vs knights lost my interest.

I believe it's made by the same people responsible for the cRPG mod for Warband

So basically you start as a peasant against knights that can insta-kill you?

Not exactly. Everyone starts as a peasant and you work your way up. It's trying to include playable realism rather than just casual game play. It's obvious who are the knights by the armour they wear and remember these are 80 vs 80 battles so you have the option to try and avoid them on the battle field or team up with some other peasants and bring them down. TBH I'd say individual skill is just as important as armour - I have been killed by many players sporting a loin cloth despite me being in chain ..
