Hey guys, i registered at steamgifts like years ago but since i won here only one game per 1200 entries even when here was not so many people, i was not much active in here. Time is flowing and everything changed so i wonder if there is some steamgifts group for anime guys or some myanimelist group. Something like that. Also, it's good to see that last year boom with anime game and visual novels on steammarket, sad part i became pretty poor comparing to like 2 years ago. Meh. At least i have anime.

TL;DR
Link me some anime/MAL groups on steamgifts

Oh, okay. Then I don't know. I was invited to one and joined it without really thinking, but I left it since it was a pretty boring group and I didn't have anything to do there.

They change their group picture every week & sometimes even have giveaways here & there, but you need to be knowledgeable of various animes (or quick on Google).

There are official MAL, Anilist and Haruhichan groups on Steam (you can find them through search)

Also, anime is bad.

Anime, for all its worth, is a limited medium. Imagine reading a good book at the age of 16. You might get some things out to it, some you might not but you back to it again at the age of, let's say, 25-26 and you see some things in different light or even find something you missed or it flew over you at the first reading. However, there is no point going back for 3rd or 4th time.

With anime, things are shared like that. You start noticing patterns, cliches and tropes that tend to be annoying and redundant, even when self aware and tongue-in-cheek. Eventually, you hit a ceiling and there is nothing more you can take or "drain" out of it.

What I personally find strange is the overall immaturity mixed with inconsistent character development, sometimes it feel like there is a message lost somewhere in all that mess. Sometimes there isn't and it boils down to plain pandering. There is nothing remarkable about it, and the worst is that it tries to hide these flaws behind shabby characters whose excuse of progress is moving from antagonists to allies and vice versa, while pulling some pathetic speech that is supposed to supplant credible reasons.

There is also a strange layer of repressed sexuality spreading itself across the whole medium, which connects to its audience in a rather strange and concerning way. It might just be a "comedy relief' acting as an escape mechanism for people for people who have yet to achieve awareness on that field.

Those are really good valid arguments. But the same arguments can be used in series and soap operas(not sure if this is the right term). Yet it may be more obvious more in anime than the others(maybe because is a cartoon, idk).
Also(like you said) most animes are poorly developed in storyline and characters. That's because most anime are targeted to teens and/or for people that don't want a story, just want something to laugh at(made you noticed most animes take place in schools?).

The last paragragh is what I can agree more with(not that I disagree with the others, I just find this one specially made for anime). The so called "fan service" is made exactly to distract you from the bad plot it has. If you were talking about hentai I know nothing about it. Never watched, hope never will(the same goes to porn).

Now personally I find anime entertaining and I like to watch. I grew up watching Doraemon and ninja Hattori, so that may explain why. Anyway when I watch anime, I try to go for the ones with the less fan service as possible. As I said earlier it's made to cover the bad plot it has. Some anime I consider very well made(Steins;Gate poops into my mind).

But in the end it all comes to tastes.
