How usual for you is receiving a card pack
Depends on the level of your account. The higher your steam level the greater the chance of a booster pack drop. Also make sure you are elligible for one. All drops must have been gotten by said game.

It is far more important the number of eligible games for booster packs. For example, a level 100 member with 20 games is much less likely to get boosters than a level 20 member with 1500 games (I'm always talking about eligible games, not total games on each account).

Go here (it's your profile): http://steamcommunity.com/id/vee79/badges/
And look for a button with this text: "View my booster pack eligibility" on the top.

Level 81, the average is 1-1.5/month, but in a yearly period. At the two season sales, when everyone is crafting like crazy for the free cards instead of coupons, I can get 4-5 in a week. But, for example, ever since the summer sale, I got zero boosters.
I have to add though that I don't have many popular/common badges, so it is expected that I get fewer boosters.

you don't need to craft the badge to be eligible for booster packs. you only need to own the game and have all the card drops.
you can check your badges page if you're eligible for booster drops of a specific game.

yes, I know. and while what you're writing is true, it doesn't contradict what I wrote.
in your first post you've made it sound as if you're getting few booster packs because you only have "uncommon" badges. that's why I wrote that you don't need to craft the badges to be eligible for booster packs.

How can I get a booster pack?
Once you have received all of your card drops, you become eligible for a booster pack, which is a set of 3 trading cards that may include both basic and foil cards. Booster packs are granted randomly to eligible users as more badges are crafted by members of the community. Make sure you log in to Steam each week to maintain eligibility.
Once eligible, your Steam Level increases your rate of receiving a booster pack drop:
Level 10: +20% increase in your drop rate
Level 20: +40% increase in your drop rate
Level 30: +60% increase in your drop rate
Level 40: +80% increase in your drop rate
Level 50: +100% increase in your drop rate (i.e. the rate has doubled)
Etc.

Because it is a little ambiguous. Think like this:
All booster packs are handed out through a raffle. All players eligible for a booster present themselves in a number of tickets in the raffle. A level 1 player enters with 5 tickets. A level 10 with 5+5×0.2=6 tickets. A level 100 with 5+5×1.00=10 tickets. So at level 100 you have twice as better chance to win the booster pack, as a level 1 player. The levels only tip the scale a little bit so low-level users can win too.

As far as I'm concerned, there's very little point in levelling up past 10 in Steam. Because it requires way more cards to do than you'll ever receive back in booster packs, and the other benefits of doing so are quite questionable at best. It's essentially a cash cow which benefits Steam way more than it does its users, IMHO.

I was able to level up to 54 this summer by buying up cheap cards and waiting until the week before the sale started to craft them. The cards I received from the drops basically paid for themselves because they were selling for so much. So really, it didn't cost me anything to level up, but otherwise... yeah, it definitely benefits Valve more than the user.

With +160 Games dropping cardsv and level +20, I get around 1 pack each 3 months.

I only got one so far, been over lvl 20 for about 4 months when I finally got one. A friend of mine reached lvl 10 after I reached lvlv 20 and got a pack about a month before I got my first one, for a game we both had... why did I even level up? :/
