Found this little gem through the weekly GOG sale mail. It's less than $2 on both GOG and Fanatical at the moment.

Check out the Killer App and unofficial patch if you think it's something for you.

You should listen to the Daft Punk Tron: Legacy soundtrack.

How sad that games are treated with such disregard. Perhaps the reason to own this game is to enjoy the actual playing of it, without the need for achievements...

It's based on the extremely popular movie Tron

Well, it's a disney property, but the developer was Monolith. its worth as much as any other Monolith game, if anything its better than what they do these days with WB. As a matter of fact i would rather play this one again instead of the Middle-earth series.

Even their shit games like Blood 2 and Shogo

Yeah, I really like them. Particularly Blood 2. Something about aesthetics in games from that time speaks to me. Simple but serviceable.

I quite enjoyed the Middle-earth games as well. I wouldn't have touched Shadow of War with a 10-foot pole in the state it released and was initially intended but they fixed it up at some point and it's a genuinely enjoyable game for me now.

Ahh man, I hadn't thought about the tragedy of No one lives forever for at least a day, and you just reminded me. But yes, they are awesome devs. I even played a lot of gotham city imposters when it came out, and even though I don't normally play multiplayer games, it was a blast.

Imagine that someone genuinely thinks that arbitrary goals and ~0.2$ "cashback" in the form of cards is what makes a game worthwhile. It's like buying a car based on if they give complimentary chewing gum with it or not, lol

Man, you make me depressed. No reason to own a game if it doesn't have achievements or cards? Sigh...

Edit: This makes me a little hesitant to tell you that it does actually have cards but I guess I should disregard my antiquated values when it comes to my favorite pastime.

"but anyway no achievements or cards so no real reason to own it"

Imagine playing a game not because it’s fun, but because it has cards... that’s just sad.

Comment has been collapsed.

Sadly I feel the same, achievements are a major factor for me to decide if I'm gonna play a game or not
One of the things that makes me hate being a achievement hunter.

I have played many games that don't have achievements ofc and this one does looks interesting, but considering how old it is and the amount of games that I "consume" .. I won't lose sleep for passing it
and I have watched TRON: Legacy

I wished Disney has more achievements in their games on steam. I own many of their games from Disney bundles (including this game) I have bought in the past but I am almost always disappointed by their lack of achievements on steam.

That is why I prefer playing them on Xbox when they are given away with the XBL Games with Gold monthly because they always have achievements there.

That you don't want to play a particular game is fine... I think it's this little tidbit that made people facepalm:

but anyway no achievements or cards so no real reason to own it

Maybe you would have been more interested if Tron had been a hentai game and not a FPS.

It's that some gamers refuse to play a game if there's no cards or achievements available that make some people shake their head in disbelief.

No, that is not what started the facepalm wave. Do I really have to quote you one more time? Ok, here goes:

but anyway no achievements or cards so no real reason to own it

You said that yourself. There's no reason to own Tron because there are no cards nor achievements. It's that part that irked some people, not that you are not interested in playing Tron.

again - nothing against you not knowing the game, but do you really have to be dick about it? again.. can't blacklist me for the second time, you can remove me from BL though and add me again if it helps growing your internet ego :D

sorry if it helps i'll pretend this is one of my all time favorites

I mean, you can't be surprised people dislike such condescending attitude... (and your original comment about the game having no value is pretty much condescending on it's own)
I even agree with you on achievements here.. I am more likely to play a game if it has achievements. Wouldn't have even answered you again if not for this comment though

I don't know how you manage to do it, is it intentional or not, but you use such wording that it makes you sound you are criticizing the game instead of simply saying you don't like it
And I'll repeat - that condescending tone. "no real reason to own it" .. who says that ? ..

I have nothing against you, even if it feels different as I've opposed your comments previously.. So don't take it the wrong way, but sometimes it just feels like you go out of your way just to comment something people will take the wrong way and then act as a victim

A fair number of people in the world can't fathom that there's actually a third option.
They simply have to speak, and often don't think before they do so.

Imagine if you watched a movie in the theater and at the end, someone from the staff comes over and gives you cards with the movie artwork on them. "Sir, these are your cards"

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Even better, every 15 minutes into a movie an employee goes throughout the entire room passing everyone their card for spending the time there, and at certain scene's everyone's phone goes "brrr" for getting an achievement. We're joking about it now, give it a few years.

The second movie can be a nice visual porn in itself. If you watch it right after the first, it turns into a literal "legacy" movie; they really tried to be as faithful as possible.
The first one is old and it can be extremely slow with next to no action. It is still groundbreaking from a few aspects. It is worth one shot if you have the time.

Sadly, the game that came with the second film is inaccessible and it is a pain to get it running on PC if you manage to find it anywhere, because of its old GfWL dependency. It is a shame since it acts as a prequel to the second film and portrays one of the key elements in the plot, which is summarised by a short monologue in there.

Somehow it's cheaper for me to buy it on Steam, even with no discount, than getting it on GOG despite the fact that it's only $1.4 right now in my region. Weird stuff happens when our currency goes down the drain and publishers forget to update the prices.
Guess I'll pick it up during the next big sale, the comments here picked my interest.
