Do not care tbh ¯_(ツ)_/¯ . I've seen Ridge,it was bit silly but an okay movie. Seen Arrival, loved first half, hated the second one. I always felt that Oscars were rigged in a sense that you have movies there which were basically made to win an oscar. Theme, actors and whole direction is predetermined just to get an nomination.
You wont see any actually unique or interesting movies, just oscar baits.

I partly agree with you. Even though most nominees were made to generate oscar buzz ( and even some that haven't recieved a nomination were created with that purpose in mind, like Collateral Beauty with Will Smith that is just 7 Pounds part 2), they are clearly superior than the average blockbuster realeased each month.

I just watched La La Land and Zootopia. Have no idea rest of them. Probably I'll watch them too. But I really want La La Land to get one Oscar at least.
And Thank you for the giveaway.

The Oscars will choose the best movies of 2016 next sunday, february 26. How about we play a predict-the-awards game? You don't have to vote for each category, only the ones you recognize/appreaciate. I also know nothing about some of them xD Might add some GAs for top 10-20 winners. Idk
I'll start:
Best Picture - La La Land.
The best film I've seen this year. Perfect cinematography, sound and a great cast. Reminds me a lot of the musicals from the 1950s
Best Director - Damien Chazelle (La La Land)
He uses a lot of moving frames and 1-shot takes, both trademarks of the 1950s musicals. If you watch any of Vincente Minellis' movies you'll notice a bunch of similarities with la la land. There's a great video on youtube explaining this.
Best Actor - Casey Affleck – Manchester by the Sea.
Even though both Ryan Gosling and Denzel Washington were great in their films, Casey was really one step above.
Best Actress - Isabelle Huppert – Elle
I haven't watched Jackie yet, so I may be wrong, but I feel like Emma Stone, Ruth Negga and Isabelle Huppert have a shot at this. I'd go with Isabelle.
Best Supporting Actor - Mahershala Ali (Moonlight)
The guy is the best thing about the movie.
Best Supporting Actress - Viola Davis – Fences.
Another category where I feel most of them have a real chance. Naomie Harris was great in Moonlight just as Michelle Williams in Manchester by the Sea and Viola in Fences. Emma will probably win, but I'm gonna go with the dark horse.
Best Original Screenplay - La La Land Manchester by the Sea would also be a good choice.
Best Adapted Screenplay - Moonlight
Best Animated Feature Film - Zootopia
Best Original Score - La La Land. Hands down
Best Original Song - "City of Stars" (La La Land). Even though I really liked Lin-Manuel Miranda's work in Moana, it's impossible not to vote for City of Stars.
Best Sound Editing - Arrival. - La La Land might also win this one too. BTW, the difference between editing and mixing i that sound editing" refers to sounds that are created for a movie, while mixing describes how the various sounds are put together and assembled.
Best Sound Mixing - La La Land Another easy choice!
Best Production Design - La La Land. The way they used colors and saturation to guide the viewer through the characters feelings druing the movie is superb.
Best Cinematography - La La Land This movie might get pretty close to Titanic and LOTR in number of wins.
Best Visual Effects - Doctor Strange. Jungle Book was also really good.
Lacking categories are because I'm not familiar enough with the nominees or just don't know anything about.
BTW, here's the obligatory gib. Lvl +1
What you guys think?
