Okay,so like the dumbass I am,I accidentally spilled root beer on my keyboard. I cleaned it out,and put my keyboard back in. But for some reason, every key I press does a shortcut, for example,S opens my Desktop folder and F bookmarks the page. After bringing up the on-screen keyboard, everything works fine again except the left control button doesn't work. I unplugged and plugged the keyboard back in,but it's back in the "shortcut" state again. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

My keyboard is a Razer Anansi and my OS is Windows 7

EDIT: The control key still works on the "shortcut" mode,so I'm pretty sure it's not shorted out.

Also,I've tried using a second keyboard and it's the same way,so I doubt it's the hardware

The chance is high that you successfully broke your keyboard because even when you cleaned it the the fluids still can destroy some stuff.

press the ctrl key without pressing anymore for more than 10 secs and that should do it :), the same could happen with the shift, and then everything you press is like shift+key...

This happens sometimes if you press a button for a long time, then windows to help you out leaves it on so you dont need to press it anymore :)... maybe when the rootbeer fell on the keyboard it felt like it had the ctrl key pressed for more than 10 secs

This actually sounds like a decent idea.

your ctrl key is stuck.
ctrl+s opens desktop folder.

just take off the ctrl key and clean under it a little bit, probably some dried sticky root beer there. :)

Probably some fluid is still there or its just sticky.

For the symptoms. Its either still wet or it is sticky. the ctrl key is still pressed.

What ive heard, but never done though. Do the same, but with water, plenty of it (disconnected obviously.) Make sure its properly clean and dry after you attempt to use it again.

Hold down both control keys and both shift keys for about 10 seconds.
