Someone know a good site or good software to download MIDI Files or convert mp3 to MIDI?

I use a program called GXSCC, that put the music in 8 bits, very simple, but only use MIDI files, and all the pages i search dont have music i want ( Rise Against, Sabaton, Battle Beast, 5FDP, and others )

Thanks for the help :P

Converting MP3 to MIDI only works (to a degree) if an MP3 song is a single instrument, preferably piano, and the result will hardly please you. Basically, if you want to "convert" something to MIDI, you do it manually, instrument by instrument, note by note, just like a real musician.
So your best bet is to Google for MIDIs you want, but I don't know any special resource that has everything.

The weirdest thing happened to me. When I opened this thread, my computer date changed to 2001 :P
But serious question: is the MIDI format still used and why?

MIDI is neither a audio format (like MP3, WMA,...) nor audio codec (like AC3, LAME, Vorbis,...), MIDI is more like a "language", it's still used in music production. FYI, you can "translate" a MIDI file into a note sheet ;)

Let's do a little explanation -

MIDI is NOT an audio format. It's sheet music for computers. It just contains a list of notes, when they start, how loud they are, and what instruments play them. The audio is generated by a synthesizer on your computer.

You cannot turn an arbitrary mp3 (sound) into sheet music, although with tools such as spectrograms, you can probably make a good approximation of one if the given mp3 is simple enough.

If you want to download a MIDI of a particular song, you'll have to find one that somebody's already created.

I hope this clears up any misconceptions you have about what MIDI is.
