Ok so hello again SG.

Here i am yet again, with some random thoughts and stupid questions.

1: ok so i am "close" to both my 8th cake day and 5000 games gifted, wanted to reach those goals around the same time.
And i was thinking about making another one of my really big trains, any ideas what theme i can go for?
also, on a scale from 1 to Red Potatoes, how much have u missed my trains? :o

2: Will be making a bunch of whitelist and group GA's next months, so if you wanna join my whitelist, describe in a few words why the Shawshank Redemption is the greatest movie of all time.
Or you can have a really cool profile :p
For those of you who are here early, there are a bunch of them going on right now.

3: what is your best gaming moment in 2021? :D
my favorite moment was completing red dead 2 for the first time, that shit was amazing!

The GA's

what u think?

giving away elden ring? you really want to make people suffer?
why isnt the napoleonic wars considered a world war?
ngl, didnt read, just want games thx
Imagine measuring in games given or dollar worth. real SG users measure in "how many potatoes could i have bought instead of this"
ok so the napoleonic wars was pretty much only europe, but what about the seven years war? that was like 5 continents
you have legit no valid reason to add a poll to this thing. wtf?
after what you just did, i think we should see other people! :|
ok cool. but who are you tho?

1.Red Potatoes the theme could be about astrology (just my opinion)

2.Shawshank Redemption one of the best classic movies

  1. Best gaming moment for me was same like yours Red dead redemption 2 is an amazing game (cried at the end of the game but who hasn't) also Metro exodus what an experience that game was if you haven't played it i recommend it. Also i met a few friends in Warzone randomly and now we are playing a bunch of games together we all live in different towns but same country so a good friendship was made in Warzone.
    Cheers!

I don't know, it has nice cast and narrative? It's certainly one of the movies of all time :P
Jokes aside, it's a good movie that tells a good story. That's probably not the reason it's the greatest movie of all time, but it's enough for me :D I should watch it again now that you mentioned it :P
Hmm, can't remember any important moment for games. I guess I'm just sleepy ^^"

  3. My best gaming moment of 2021? Uh...maybe playing Prey for the first time. I watched Markiplier's LP a while back so I already knew the plot, but it's an amazing game.

Thank you!

  1. "French Fries" is my rating
  2. Because it's the perfect mix of all kinds of lessons about humans. How power corrupts. That you can find empathy where you least expect it. That you shouldn't judge humans on their biggest failure, they can improve. And that revenge is a dish best served cold. xD
  3. No idea, I've been blessed with playing quite a lot of great games. Can't pick a winner. And probably would struggle to remember when 2021 began and ended.

  1. pretty good rating
  2. yeah for sure. "I'd like to think that the last thing that went through his head, other than that bullet, was to wonder how the hell Andy Dufresne ever got the best of him." is such a nice line in terms of revenge xD
  3. well having so many good moments is a good thing on its own :o

First of all, I need to thank you for the pool. That first option really made me smile. With everything going on it's those small things that matter.

Not I would feel bad not to try to answer the questions, so here we go:

  1. Considering your seniority on the page, maybe something in the form of a timeline(either time based or GA based) Somehow refer to your memories of steamgifts since you joined, or alternatively to every XXXth game given away. That would certainly be original, and suitable for an anniversary (Fabularized trains are also nice, but I wanted to suggest something new)
  2. I barely remember that one. Should probably try to watch it again.
  3. Hard to say, There were plenty nice ones, but I would have a hard time naming one(or a few) as top ones

Sorry for not being able to contribute more

  1. I remembered the most is the scene which the good guy got out of jail and can’t adapt the society anymore, then committed suicide. And the final scene when he finally was freed under the rain.
  2. I can’t think any game memorable I played last year.

1) I like trains. Plus, potato is one of my fav words. I just like saying it. Poe Tay Toe. I like it way WAY more than Tomato. Tomato, as a word, does nothing for me. Potato is magic. Red Potato is my vote.

2) When I hear someone in the 'real world' say, "decidedly inconvenient" I know it means 2 things. It means they've seen Shawshank Redemption recently, and they have a great taste in movies. Such a beautiful movie.

3) My best gaming moment in 2021 was experiencing Hollow Knight. The moment in question is when, after failing repeatedly on a boss, finally beating him/her and the sense of satisfaction I felt... then said to myself, "This game's AMAZING!" Felt sooooo gooooood!

I watched the start film because you mentioned it and I've had it on the backburner for a while. It probably has the most humorous dialogue in a movie that I've watched (me being a zoomer and mostly watching movies for younger audiences). My favorite line was, "You people run this place like a f** prison!" Andy's appreciation for chess really made me love his character, not anything else. Also it was so funny recognizing the Guard Captain as Mr. Krabs VA. Pretty discernible when he swears if you ask me.
I totally forgot that this was supposed to be in a few words, so my best summation would be: it has real soul.

Edit: watched more, and that brooks scene though...

And that is something i didnt know, never really been good at knowing who voices diferent things in the animated movies/shows i watch.

And yes, the brooks scene also gets me every time, just in a sad way :/

For 2. The title itself includes how the movie would end, but the storyline of the main character is well-written, who goes through the hardships and finally get the freedom. The narration of Morgan Freeman is one of the other elements making watchers get into the movie. The last sentence - “In Memory of Allen Greene.”

Yeah true, a movie spoiled by the title :o
But the journey there is the best part, and the narration is also spot on, really fits the theme of the movie.

1: Rainbow Potatoes, that's also a theme?
2: Strangely, movies in prison are nearly always great, and Stephen King never failed.
3: Horizon Zero Dawn. It was a game that I won here in SG. The story was great, especially how it manages to tell the history behind how the world become filled with these strange robots. And graphics were the best I had encountered in an open world, and yes I know the game isn't really young because it was a PS4 game first, but I was really impressed.

ok so i am "close" to both my 8th cake day and 5000 games gifted, wanted to reach those goals around the same time

Wow, that's impressive O_o

  1. I didn't miss them, since I haven't participated in any of them. At least I think I haven't. I rarely discuss something on this forum until I really need to speak to someone. I have trouble communicating with people even in my native language, what to say about English — my grammar is pretty bad and it takes some time and effort to express myself clearly. I haven't any thoughts about the train theme, but "communication" suggests itself.

  2. I've heard a lot of great things about this movie, but I haven't watched it. It's probably a subconscious thing. The person who recommended this movie to me first is not a person whose advice I would trust the slightest)

  3. The best moment was the completion of Dark Souls Remastered. I loved the original Demon's Souls back in the day, but I have love/hate "relationships" with the first Dark Souls due too many reasons. But I've finally completed it with DLC and got all the achievements (despite I'm not a completionist) — just to be done with this game once and for all.

  3. And those are great games, so well done on completing it.

1 - Few ideas for trains, the first has a set number of games but the others allow more flexibility and you can choose how many:

  • A game for every letter of the alphabet (a - American Truck Simulator, b- Beat Sabre, etc.)
  • Games by their release date (Slay the Spire (Jan 2019), Astroneer (Feb, 2019), etc.)
  • Games by price (under 1 Euro, 1-2 Euros, 2-3 Euros, 3-4 Euros, etc.)
  • Games by community wishlist ranking (1 game from 1-10th rank, 1 game from 11-20th rank, etc.)

  • 1, because while I was registered in sg before your last train I only started becoming active in the forums around late 2020's. You're before my time, old man/woman/anime catgirl! As for theme, there are a lot of possible themes but I feel like since it's your cakeday soon just choose your favorite game of this year and make your picks branching from that.

  • The Shawshank Redemption is, in my opinion, made unforgettable by its portrayal of the lives of former inmates once their sentence is served. Most prisons not just in the US but all around the world are punitive rather than rehabilitative and the consequences of such a system really show in the Shawshank Redemption. A logical consequence glossed over by the movie to sanitize the topic is that such a system also promotes recidivism. If people don't feel they belong but know a place where they do, they will gravitate to the latter each and every time without a support system. Treating people inhumanly encourages all involved to forget how to be human.

  • Disgaea 5 for me! I've always liked TBS (and strategy games in general) and it really got me into the whole franchise. Shame I haven't had much energy to play games lately tho...

  1. old man/woman/anime catgirl! XD And that sounds like a great idea.
  2. Yeah it is a great story, showing someone making the best out of a broken and terrible system. Shows what it really does to people, but that some people are still able to overcome it, and how it largely has something to do with the people around them.
  3. Ah yeah that sucks, and yeah great games for sure.
