I too turned 40 this year. My brain still thinks its 21, my body thinks its 70. And yes midlife crisis's are real, if you havent had one already, save some cash, it helps to be able to do stupid shit like buy a car, or find a gold digger to occupy you during it.

I second this, or at least I'm really suffering this 40lies crisis.
unfortunately when I reached 42 I didn't quite discover the true meaning of life universe and all the rest, so I'm still looking for.

To be completely honest, I thought they were complete bullshit until I had mine. Out of nowhere I felt like I needed to prove I was still alive or something along those lines. I cant really put it to words better than that. It lasted a few months, and disappeared as suddenly as it had arrived. But maybe you're right in a way. My first kid was born right after my 17th birthday, so maybe its not just the age, but the realization your a grandpa etc on top of the age.

It may be that people have these when kids leave home. Suddenly you have more time to yourself and more money to spend on yourself, and you probably start feeling that you've been caged for a long while just raising these kids and providing for them instead of doing what you really wanted, and need to compensate for that.
I might get to that at 60. :)

40 is middle age if you live to be 80 and 50 if you live to be 100. :P

Heya SG, I turned 40 today. Didn't have a big party, but I'll definitely do that when I get to 50. So as is the SG tradition, I've created a giveaway. But it's a public one because I wanted to give people who aren't the hardcore a chance at it too.
