This is an idea for a change in the entries limited by contribution. How about change it to percentage of contribution won back.

So if you have contributed $50 and won $10 back that would put your ratio at 20%. This would mean that those that have contributed and not won anything have a better chance.

Would be in say 10% steps and a final category open to anyone who has mad a contribution. 10% meaning have won back 10% or less of contribution

Just a thought :)

People already complain that contrib value is "exploited". This would just make things way worse.

i think that regulating a giveaway on percentage with a max of a 100% could actually solve the exploiting issues.

No it wouldnt, at all. It would further push people to "contribute" IE submit crap they exploited just to inflate their contributor amount. This push to force people to contribute is BS and is a just a thin veil for greed. People continue to FAIL to realize the point of the site is to GIVE and allow people to give, not push others to give just to quell the greedy peasants.

i'm completely against the contribution thing because of what you said, i didn't give anything yet but i will when i will have the money and i will be ready. wtv if you want to limit the enteries in your give away make it private dont just flaunt in everybody's face hey look you have to have given that amount of money to enter the giveaway and then u get ridiculous amounts like 600$ and i think i saw 1337$ at some point. but if they want to keep contributor giveaway 1) give the option to hide the ones u cant enter and 2) make the maximum value at the price of the game or like a bit more.
but imo the only limitation you should get with contributor giveaways are if you gave something or not, don't even put a price, some people just can't afford to buy hundreds of dollars of game just to give them away.

If it's a percentage of MONEY, people who enter giveaways would still be tempted to giveaway high value things that they shouldn't, just to raise their contrib value.

Now, if it were a percentage of gifts with no emphasis on money, that's not quite fair either. One Fortex or Magicka DLC would be the same as one Skyrim or one Hitman: Absolution.

i was thinking more as in percentage of value recieved like if i won 50$ of giveaways and gave back 30$ then i would be able to enter "60% contribution" giveaways but also i think more like what i wrote in answer to the other guy

Interesting o_O If people who have contributed and never won they'd get 0%, correct? What about people who have never contributed and has never won? And those who have never contributed and HAS won? Do they get negative scores? shrug I don't think this could work out...

Jerzayl - People who have never contributed would still not be able to enter a contribution only draw. And if you have contributed but won nothing you have 0%, correct.

Annelions - This would help reduce gaming. Given you only get $0.01 for bundle games it means 100 bundle games still only gives you $1 contrib. This means win one game and you are over 100% so locked out from all apart from non % contribution only draws. Yes you can still game by purchased during a sale but so what you are still contributing. The aim it to help those that have contributed but got nothing back :) Took me sooooo many months before my first win this is a good way to pay it back for others that find themselves in the same boat, no?

Bundle games have full value up to $30, then they can only make up 20% of your non-bundle total.

Where are you getting this 1 cent value?

Just assumed that was the case the way my contrib value was :) I stand corrected :)

Yeh, you're at $30, which is as far as you can go with bundle keys only. If it was 1 cent each you would be at like 6 cents :P

If you gave a $10 non-bundle game, you will go to $42 ($10 from the game, and $2 from recovered bundle value).

This is an interesting idea. I thought before about being able to limit a giveaway to people who won under a certain number of games (such as one 0 or 1 game) and this is an interesting twist on it.

I agree with PPG113 that all the attention to contribution value is not necessarily good, but I also think this won't be any worse than the current system.
