Background: At the winter sale, I bought a Slime Rancher, went through it and safely deleted. The other day I go to the Epic store and see this game in the list for free distribution. HOW SO?!

Предыстория: На зимней распродаже я купил Slime Rancher, прошел его и благополучно удалил. На днях я захожу в магазин Epic и вижу эту игру в списке для раздачи. КАК ТАК?!

I use Steam and GOG to buy games and I have Origin, Epic, Uplay only because of the free games they give from time to time.

Origin actually has some great exclusives: Titanfall 2, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Mass Effect 3, Bulletstorm, Crysis 3, Burnout Paradyse Remastered, just to name a few. And all have been offered on sale at great prices - $5-10.

+1 I think Origin is the only other platform that I use to purchase games. Uplay for the free stuff.

They collect too much hate with their Metro move. I think that was a big mistake.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The main mistake of Metro developers is that they removed the game from Steam ;(
On Steam, I could buy the game by selling skins. And to bring them to the wallet and throw in the Epic store is unprofitable.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Probably that was the deal. Make it Epic "Exclusive" and we will take less profit.

Ofc Metro devs fucked up as well.

Publisher. Devs has nothing to do with distribution.

True.

Devs did nothing to help at all. They just pushed the damage control wording that just puts the blame fully on the publisher. The devs are also at fault here

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They can say whatever they want, at the end of the day they have 0 control over that decision. If claming they are still at fault for saying things while unable to act makes your week better, be my guest.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

They have the ability to switch over to a different publisher, which they didn't feel like doing, so therefore they did nothing for the sake of damage control.

Comment has been collapsed.

You know, in the adult world signed deals can't really be broken, and the publisher is set WELL before release, for years / product lifetime. They can't change it like you change your pants.l.But it's really for the best of both of us if I just leave you in your delusional bubble. Have fun hating and blaming everyone!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not automatically. There are games out there at this very moment where the devs pulled away from the publisher. I'd say have fun going at the publisher and not at the devs as well. 4A can tell people all they want that Deep Silver is fully at fault, but they did nothing to save themselves. If 4A had someone like Peter Molyneux just to stop Deep Silver's corps from doing the stupid stuff, then this stuff wouldn't happen. With the bad Peter Molyneux may have done, he was at least able to stop the prodding hands of EA excutives from damaging Bullfrog when he was still working for them.

That is not possible for most developers... especially in this case where there was a signed deal. If the devs were to pull there game from the publisher.... that could actually result in a lawsuit. So yeah... not really the devs fault that this happened and there was not much that they could do.

You forgot The Division 2 too, well sort of, have the game shown on Steam for months (even if wiìthout purchase button) and then a month before bail the ship.

It has a better conversion rate system than Steam, honestly.
Some games are cheaper for me there since it's converted to my actual currency so i prefer to buy it there
But the store is totally barebones and misses a lot of stuffs that platforms like Steam already has.
It collects a lot of hate cause of Fornite + Metro

You already have an internet connection so you don't actually pay for anything for those free games.

Don't much care for it. I want more from steam, as most of us do. Not jump into another service that is considerably worse than the one i use, just because major companies are getting a larger cut.

RTX TRIPLE THREAT Bundle, RTX 2070, you'll choose from BF V, Anthem, Metro. RTX 2080, you'll get 3 games. I got a RTX 2070 build coming in and its part of the deal. I chose Metro but only to find out its Epic only. Meh, its free though and its the best game out of them 3. Only the Epic launcher worries me, maybe not much as I've seen streams playing Metro nicely. I haven't played the earlier Metros though not sure if I should dive in and try the RTX effect. Hmm~

The library is trash because it doesn't seem to have a search bar like Steam's. Only worth getting it for the free games you most likely won't play. Though I might actually check out Slime Rancher since it's on my Steam wishlist.
