Background: At the winter sale, I bought a Slime Rancher, went through it and safely deleted. The other day I go to the Epic store and see this game in the list for free distribution. HOW SO?!
Предыстория: На зимней распродаже я купил Slime Rancher, прошел его и благополучно удалил. На днях я захожу в магазин Epic и вижу эту игру в списке для раздачи. КАК ТАК?!

And yet, another thread...
Good PR service: sell the game on Steam and distribute for free in your xD
Now that's fuckin adorable.
I use Steam and GOG to buy games and I have Origin, Epic, Uplay only because of the free games they give from time to time.
exactly the same
Origin actually has some great exclusives: Titanfall 2, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Mass Effect 3, Bulletstorm, Crysis 3, Burnout Paradyse Remastered, just to name a few. And all have been offered on sale at great prices - $5-10.
+1 I think Origin is the only other platform that I use to purchase games. Uplay for the free stuff.

Yes! And I never play those free games and never will do xD
Same plus Uplay, Battle.net and Bethesda (played Fallout Shelter).
I have Starbound on GoG but only use Galaxy for updates
They collect too much hate with their Metro move. I think that was a big mistake.
The main mistake of Metro developers is that they removed the game from Steam ;(
On Steam, I could buy the game by selling skins. And to bring them to the wallet and throw in the Epic store is unprofitable.
Probably that was the deal. Make it Epic "Exclusive" and we will take less profit.
Ofc Metro devs fucked up as well.
Publisher. Devs has nothing to do with distribution.
Devs did nothing to help at all. They just pushed the damage control wording that just puts the blame fully on the publisher. The devs are also at fault here
They can say whatever they want, at the end of the day they have 0 control over that decision. If claming they are still at fault for saying things while unable to act makes your week better, be my guest.
They have the ability to switch over to a different publisher, which they didn't feel like doing, so therefore they did nothing for the sake of damage control.
You know, in the adult world signed deals can't really be broken, and the publisher is set WELL before release, for years / product lifetime. They can't change it like you change your pants.l.But it's really for the best of both of us if I just leave you in your delusional bubble. Have fun hating and blaming everyone!
Not automatically. There are games out there at this very moment where the devs pulled away from the publisher. I'd say have fun going at the publisher and not at the devs as well. 4A can tell people all they want that Deep Silver is fully at fault, but they did nothing to save themselves. If 4A had someone like Peter Molyneux just to stop Deep Silver's corps from doing the stupid stuff, then this stuff wouldn't happen. With the bad Peter Molyneux may have done, he was at least able to stop the prodding hands of EA excutives from damaging Bullfrog when he was still working for them.
That is not possible for most developers... especially in this case where there was a signed deal. If the devs were to pull there game from the publisher.... that could actually result in a lawsuit. So yeah... not really the devs fault that this happened and there was not much that they could do.
You forgot The Division 2 too, well sort of, have the game shown on Steam for months (even if wiìthout purchase button) and then a month before bail the ship.
Yeah, it was bad too. Not as bad as metro (not even close), but bad.
dont care , except free game
I try to don't think online.
Reduce the hassle with such threads too
It has a better conversion rate system than Steam, honestly.
Some games are cheaper for me there since it's converted to my actual currency so i prefer to buy it there
But the store is totally barebones and misses a lot of stuffs that platforms like Steam already has.
It collects a lot of hate cause of Fornite + Metro
Well, there's some free games so. Eh.
absolutely dont care....even free metro exodus would not make me start using it
i dont care what app i need to install to run game, but i want it in 1 library
Epic launcher is the best place to get free games
It's not free - you pay with your data.
You already have an internet connection so you don't actually pay for anything for those free games.
Happy cakeday :)
Thanks, Bomba, have a great day ^^
Happy cupcake day <3
Happy cake day!
not gonna install that drm.
i can't see it as a launcher, due to the total lack of functionalities.
I agree. The site is a list with games, without the ability to search by tags.
Don't much care for it. I want more from steam, as most of us do. Not jump into another service that is considerably worse than the one i use, just because major companies are getting a larger cut.
Unless they can compete with GOG's and sometimes Steam's prices in my region, freebies are all they are good for in my case.
I don't know what I think about the Epic Game Store, but I LOVE all these threads about it!
I don't use it, so I don't have an opinion about it.
i got metro exodus for free, they are awesome.
He probly pirated it :D like the attachment says :P
RTX TRIPLE THREAT Bundle, RTX 2070, you'll choose from BF V, Anthem, Metro. RTX 2080, you'll get 3 games. I got a RTX 2070 build coming in and its part of the deal. I chose Metro but only to find out its Epic only. Meh, its free though and its the best game out of them 3. Only the Epic launcher worries me, maybe not much as I've seen streams playing Metro nicely. I haven't played the earlier Metros though not sure if I should dive in and try the RTX effect. Hmm~
Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!
that sounds like the legendary dual-pet, chets ^^
It's terrible on a pizza.
that's wrong, like, very wrong. Epic pizza is... well, you're a deep-dished-things-eater so 'm quite sure you wouldn't understand.
I call their launcher the Epic Fail Launcher. That's what I think of it. I like the free games, though. Thimbleweed park is fantastic.
I also thought about it. Beautiful - yes, functional - no.
Bad support. They use automatic answers and didn't known how their own site works.
The library is trash because it doesn't seem to have a search bar like Steam's. Only worth getting it for the free games you most likely won't play. Though I might actually check out Slime Rancher since it's on my Steam wishlist.
I could not even find my list of games on the site. It can be found only in the history of purchases. Sadly
