How do you feel about the accuracy of Steam review averages?
Quite unexpected, because I was expecting to see some AAA game, but it turned out to be Patrick's Parabox

Another freebie, like CultofPersonalitea. Why don't you grab it?! 😅

Steam reviews are not all that accurate to me. I find people are too hard on games on Steam.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is rated 71% Mostly Positive. But the games is insanely fun and has over 90,000 reviews so clearly people love it. People are too hard on popular games. And they're too hard on them at scale - thousands and thousands of people being unfair to them.
Another game I love, Space Run Galaxy is rated Mixed with 69% positive. Criminally underrated. I looked at the reviews and here's a recent one:
Recommended 81.8 hrs on record (74.0 hrs at review time)

I'm writing this solely because I am shocked that the reviews are mixed. It may be a rather difficult game at times, but the satisfaction of completing a difficult mission becomes oh so greater. It's simply a fun game to play, however, in offline play, it may get repetative, i.e. the replayability may not be all that great. You may take this with a grain of salt if you'd like, since it's been a while since I've played the game, but all in all it is an enjoyable experience and worth the money. My only complaint is that it is too short. I hope they make a sequel.

Yes, there are clearly many games that are unfairly down-rated because of the general attitude to Steam reviews, especially "big" popular games. But I do typically find that the ones which do very well under the review system are almost always worth a look.
Happy Cake Day! 🎂 🎉

Because of thee binary nature of the voting system, and the need to own the game, the games that usually end up with the best ratios are not the most popular games, but the good games that appeal to a niche that people buy knowing exactly what they are getting into.
Those games have buyers who specifically know what they want, so the purchase was made already knowing the game would be liked. Popular games with a more general audience are going to have more players who buy the game because other people have it so more negative reviews are likely to come. Multiplayer stuff is most likely to end up with this kind of audience.
Visual Novels tend to have really high ratios since they are super niche, the average person who doesn't want to play those games can immediately tell its not for them so they don't buy them and so the people who buy and then review the game are usually positive.

And for me, it's Aokana - Four Rhythms Across the Blue - EXTRA2, an after story to a good Visual Novel.

I'm curious why Steam thinks that's "similar to" the Kingdom Hearts games. Odd titles for sequels is at least a similarity.

For me it's Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping and game 1 was fun so I guess I can understand it?
Steam reviews overall I am mixed about, since there are things like review bombing and also people that give a positive while it shouldn't makes it hard so I tend to just read the negative and see if it would also bother me, if not, I may get the game, if I agree, I will ignore it, works best for me so far.

The first 2 on the list were already mentioned, so the 3rd one is Underground Blossom

Nice, that's another new one to me. The Rusty Lake games were very good, glad to have this on my radar 👍

Lovely game, for me it 100% deserves the high rating.

I can recommend this one, also it's sequel episode/epilogue Milo and the Christmas Gift.

It seems it's Tactical Breach Wizards with a whooping 98% positive reviews out of currently 9167, which is quite nice.
EDIT: so I took the chance to take a look at the reviews and the game is more of a puzzle game than a Shawowrun/XCom game which is what I thought it would be and now I removed it from the wishlist, instead the top is now Starvaders

That's my number 22 when sorted by review score, but number 2 when sorted by my own ranking 😁

99% overall and 100% recent. I wouldn't call it GOTY material but seems to bring a lot of nostalgia for some people, so maybe that's why.
Regarding the poll, steam should have a 1-100 fun point rating option for reviews. Users voting a yes or no on a game is too simple. Voting yes on Cyberpunk and Voting yes on a clicker game shouldn't be the same thing. I'm inclined to give a game I spent a few hours in a yes because it was somewhat fun, but it might not strike me as outstanding. So I think it downplays AAA's and some really high quality indies out there.

I was surprised as this one is also on top of my Wishlist.
Wishlist with more than 5000 games on it. I tend to add everygame I see with good reviews, is not a flip asset and I don't own it on another platform.

I was just playing around with my wishlist, and something came to mind which I thought might be interesting.
When I sort my wishlist by Review Score, the game which ends up at number one is... Lil Gator Game!
So, the idea is this: sort your wishlist and share the link here for what comes out on top... BUT - no repeats! So if someone else already posted the same game, you can go down your list until the first one which hasn't already been mentioned.
