Saw it coming. I'm still crippled by 3DS region restriction. My 3DS is Australian/UK, but I'm somewhere else now so... it's so difficult to buy games. T__T

My last Nintendo console was a N64 and it looks like it will stay like that.

What. TAS is not hacked ROM. Tool assisted speedrun is when you use a program to do all the inputs for you in the most optimal way that is humanly impossible to achieve the best possible time. Using hacked ROMs is against the rules. It can be even done on an original console.

If people actually modify the ROM/image/original game depending on how you want to call it, that is actually a rather complicated area- for one, changing elements of game can improperly portray your content, and can cause issues when too similar to the original. That said, I don't really care either way. If Nintendo is really only concerned with modified ROM's, that's totally fine. But, if it's simply someone using third party tools or otherwise using unmodified game content, that's a little creepy. However, for all the people who are really upset, it IS Nintendo's legal right, according to the EULA. It's not like they're doing anything illegal, even if it is stupid.

But taking down LP-s over it?

I mean, it is legally their right in the EULA. Doesn't make it a good business decision, but they are legally allowed to do so.

I remember the good old days when nintendo seemed like they had a brain. I would play [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] for months on end. Now, they have awful consoles, and they're limiting everyone in what they can do with the games that are their property. I used to think that once you owned a game, you were free to do what you wanted with it. I guess I was wrong in that assumption. Hopefully, when nintendo notices that they're losing money because of stupid decisions like these, they may start to lift the barriers and finally enter the 21st century.
