Well I have just finished work for two weeks for the annual holiday. My wife has recently started a new job so she can't get any time off so rather than going away somewhere for the entire two weeks we are managing a few days camping, a couple of nights in a hotel and some days out in between my wife's working hours (she works a two week shift pattern, part time)

So today I'll be getting the tent down from the loft and checking we have everything ready for our camping trip before we set off tomorrow afternoon for 3 nights camping in North Wales (where I've lived half my life so a holiday of seeing relatives and once familiar places rather than exploration)

So is anyone else off on holiday shortly and if so where?

Closest GA for camping I could get was Caravanserail - I know, it's not very close ;)

I'm taking a 9 day trip to Arizona at the end of the month. Mostly pleasure but going to look at house foreclosures while I'm there.

Arizona sounds nice. I've never been - closest I've ever got is California

I went last year as well, liked it so much spent this year saving to hopefully buy a property while I'm there this year. 2 bedrooms, with a pool, central air on an acre of land, costs 1/3rd what it would where I live now. I figure if I get a forclosure at auction, I'm looking at 1/5th the cost of here.

It's always a holiday for me, but never a vacation.

I have three months of school (I have to start again in a few weeks) and I don't really go anywhere. I have a volunteers job at a museum railroad (we're driving with actual steam locomotives) where I go to once every two or so weeks. But other then that, I'm just sitting at home, relaxing (playing guitar, gaming, watching series/movies etc) and working on my personal project (a skillplanner for Total War: Warhammer).

Also: Have fun on your holidays!

Driving a steam train - even at 49 still a dream of mine!

Well, I'm not personally driving it. I'm just in the train the locomotive is pulling, but still an amazing experience! You should really go to a museum railroad once. The first time is just... epic...

Anything like The Midland Railway - Butterly? That's about a 15 minutes walk from my front door and been quite a few times now :)

Kind of like that, yeah. Although I think our locomotives are a bit bigger. link

The company I worked for for 20 years just sold out and shut down. So I guess I'm on holidays for a while. :)
Enjoy your time with your wife.

Bummer. I've been made redundant myself 4 times in my life. I usually try to make the most of it and get some jobs done around the house .. One particularly productive time I fenced our property and built a door for one of our out houses

I work from home, when I want and how much I want, so I can have holidays whenever I feel like it.

I actually get a whole weekend off, from both jobs, which is as close to a "holiday" as I get. :X
Have a great time camping, though. :P

Good luck with the new arrival, when's the due date?

I've two boys of my own (3 & 7) and can remember a similar situation with my wife :)
