Hi have only just signed-up for EA's Origin so I could get Mass Effect 3. So today is the first time I have used Origin at all.

It turns out that in my Humble library I had bought Origin Bundle 1 and Origin Bundle 2 a long time ago. All the keys in Origin Bundle 1 activated fine, but the two keys in bundle 2 would not activate at all. Is there any reason why this might have happened? I live in the UK - could that be an issue?

Now my final questions - what games would people recommend that are Origin-exclusive that can't be bought on Steam? And where is the best place to get discounted/sale Origin keys from?

Thanks!

Well what does it say when you try to activate them?

It brings up a confirmation screen for each key, showing that it is a Humble Origin key and lists the games that are about to be activated, but then when you click on 'Next' it has the spinning circle for a few seconds then displays the message 'An error has occurred while trying to process your request' in an orange bar at the top of the key redeem window

Hmm i let someone else who knows more about it answer, or you could call their hotline, but wait 30 minutes with annoying music, i did that and wouldn't recommend it. :p

If you google origin an error has occurred while trying to process your request, you will get alot of hits (but mostly about buying and couldn't find anything that leads to a fix.

Maybe just try again later?

I'd say your best bet is contacting Origin Support. They are actually pretty decent (from my experience).

Did that, turns out the codes for Humble Origin Bundle 2 expired in April 2017, but some of the games in the bundle they can't issue codes for any more... but the guy at EA support was a superstar and added codes to my Origin account for all the Bundle2 games that he was able. Really happy how he dealt with it, genuinely fantastic customer serivce

So your codes were expired but the support guy STILL added the games to your account? That IS great support. Congrats!

EA might have its faults, but as far as support goes, they're excellent. Where Valve seem to have gone out of its way to hide any support contact information (seriously, try to find how to open a new support ticket on Steam. it's possible, they've just made sure that you'll have to struggle with finding it), EA have made their support really accessible and also seem to have given instructions to their support staff to trust people who contact them, and try to find a solution that makes the customer happy.

Really glad everything turned out fine in the end. :) For all the flak that EA gets, they have some of the best customer support I have ever dealt with.

Wish they would do the Origin bundle again. Been trying to get my friend a Dead Space 3 key. And I'd find a way to get the money for that.

Thanks. Probably won't, though. No offense. I was chatting with CowofDarkness last night about the FEAR bundle and how I'd love to play FEAR 3. He offered me the keys for 3 FEAR games, as I only own FEAR 2 no DLC. I thanked him but turned them down, as much as I wanted to use them. It's my principals. I may sound like I beg at times but I have turned down things 99% of the time.

If I can't buy, trade for, win or be fast enough to grab a key before ninja's, then it's not yet meant to be. That's how I go.

Out of random curiosity, if someone made a giveaway and you were the only person whitelisted (or even just the only person who the game was intended for) would you remove your entry after realizing that?

Yes. Yes I would. It's not a sporting chance that way,

I felt the same way.. and I actually removed my entry even though I would have played it. I was the only one, and just mentioned I'd rather have more people have a chance to have it. I had a comment before, but now I know for sure I did upset the user. They apparently blacklisted me after that. even though we're in a group

The only downside to these principals is that spacecat doesn't seem to want to visit me as often as I'd like. I mean, I shouldn't complain. I've won a decent amount in the past. But it does get kind of lonely without him. :(

I feel like anyone who still has DS3 will want at least $5 for it.

Sidenote, not sure if it's still active but depending on where you live you can either for free.
If you use an inbrowser vpn (like Opera) you can get both.
Sometimes they will give freebies, i got 6 or 7 maybe (unless i confused that with Uplay) from them that they given away.

Some of your Steam games will activate on Origin too.

Here's a list, might be out of date: http://techgage.com/article/migrating_your_ea_games_from_steam_or_retail_to_origin/
Some can only be activated on their website, some through the client. https://activate.ea.com/applyentitlement.do

Tried two, Burnout and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, but don't give keys while site says it should.

Still worth a try though.

Have you tried Origin Access? You get access to over 20 games for monthly fee. I paid for one month, canceled and played those 2-3 games i cared about.

Do you get to keep the games after you cancel or is it like PlayStation+?

You don't keep them. You pay for access.

Regarding sales: a few resellers like Gamesplanet are also selling Origin keys. And when there's a sale at the Origin store itself, you could check the store prices of Mexican, South African or Indian Origin store to get even more discount (however, VPN usage is always at a little risk due to ToS).

It will probably take a while to get cheap, but Titanfall 2 was reported to have one of the best FPS single-player campaigns recently - it would worth a shot when it'll be as cheap as you would pay for it.

Just small warning about mass effect 3 and/or 2 you might have problem with instaling games - directx folder is making some kind of error (at least in my case). So if you will have strange problem with downloading (for example base game is downloaded but dlc's are frozen and you cannot start game) there is simple solution - just use google :) (you have to delete almost all files from directx folder exept 2 of them).

About discounts - I can't say too much. I'm interested only in dlcs for mass effect and you can buy them only with those retarded "bioware points". And they have been discounted once - couple of years ago...
