Try a full uninstall and reinstall, if the issue persists it isnt steam but a hardware issue....Origin is less intensive than steam btw and may not be pushing the threshold enough.

So for the longest time I've been able to just let steam run in the background the whole day and play my games on it with
no problem. 2 or 3 weeks ago however, it's started to heat up my laptop a whole lot just by being idle. So now I just don't log
into it unless it's to talk to someone for a minute or 2 due to it heating up my laptop instantly. Before anyone asks, I've
checked to see if it does it to anything else. Origin runs just fine as do all of my other programs and non-steam games. Does
anyone know what could be causing this and how to fix it?
