Did you guys noticed that the old games of total war were added today?

MEDIEVAL: Total War™ - Gold Edition
SHOGUN: Total War™ - Gold Edition

I loved the original games, but the only one on steam until today was Rome Total War... :)

I don't know if I can go to those after Rome and Medieval 2 but one day I might try them, it's great that they're there for people who want them. Hopefully they run okay since Steam is weird with old games.

Attalia was a disappointment.
A true disappointment.
The original ones(Rome, Shogun and 2nd part of it and Empire)was and will be good.

Yep it was strange, i found out cuz i was looking if rome total war had discount because it didnt show on the weekend sale announcement, and looking for all total war games i found the old ones with "launch date" today xD

Just checked again and even the weekend total war special doesn't even mention the games nor does it show them as being part of the franchise.

Typical Sega move tho, as a player of both the TW franchise and COH2 my main gripe with them has always been the lack of communication towards consumers regarding patches and releases.

if i remember correctly they announced the release of these old games on their "rally" episodes (it's the way they announce stuff) alongside their new DLC for Attila.

yeah, they are pretty bad at telling the gamers their next move...

I don't think so. They just use their youtube channel.
What i think their bad at is their DLC pricing policy, i'd never buy their DLC is nuuvem didn't sell them very cheap.

It's really great to see them add their older titles, but I sort of feel like I do with Crusader Kings 2:It improved so much over the original, and even though I never played M1 or SG1 I doubt there's any reason for me to try them. Nostalgia-collectors may feel differently, of course.

i don't remmeber medieval 1 much, but shogun 1 is still "good". The campaign portion is very simple, almost risk like, the battles however are very good. If you have shogun 2 shogun 1 might feel too simple however i still enjoyed it.

<--- Nostalgia Collector

I plan to buy them when the price is right. I still have the CD's, but I'd like a digital backup. In many ways, the older games "feel better" than the newer ones.

I agree, i like how they feel, and the graphic part of the game havent aged that bad yet, maybe in a couple of years...

For some reason Rome won't work on my computer. i'm interested in these, but i have no faith that the older games would run any better.

Original Shogun was a lot of fun. A bit unbalanced though as the elite samurai (forget what the unit was called) could wipe out the entire enemy army. We are talking a unit of 2 guys just cutting hundreds of enemy soldiers to pieces.

I'll be buying them for sure. I'll just wait for a sale. :)

Well, the first Shogun is still my favourite Total War game, not because it has the best gameplay of the lot, but because a full campaign takes less time to play than later games, thus making it not overstay its welcome.

Well, I played almost all the TW games (Attila is the only one I haven't tried yet) and after RTW Alexander, the first two are clearly the worst - not gonna buy them again.

PS: I wish they would team-up with Paradox for one time and make a TW with the grand strategy depth of Victoria II...

yeah a paradox-sega partnership for total war would be great :D
