A friend of mine got me a book from the San Diego Comicon event that happen last month or so and I really want it shipped here, to Australia. I am just a bit unsure how I should go about it, every regular site I have checked so far has some ridiculous pricing ($100+). The dimensions are : 12.5 inches x 9.5 inches x 2 inches and 5.2lb (Its a big book). Want it shipped from California to Melbourne.

I am also giving away a Destiny 2 PC beta code if anyone is interested, just leave a replay on here saying why you should be the one to get it. > will message person who most deserves it

Thanks!

You are saying "just leave a replay on here saying why you should be" i mean its hard make decision if you are giving away a code you can do it randomly

I would love destiny 2 im really intrested in it necause the loot and run style really reminds me of borderlands 2 and presequel. I was never able to play D1 on console as i do not own 1 and will not own one as i dont want to waste money on a console for just 1 game.
Thanks for the chance to get the game :)

I dont have any experience with shipping to anywhere so i cant help you out on that one sadly :(

Beta code still available? I was going to let the PC beta be the decider for whether I preorder the game. Unfortunately, I start the semester at my University on the 29th, and won't have really any time at all to get into the open beta and get enough experience to make that decision. If I could get into the beta on the 28th, it would be extremely helpful.

I looked around and would recommend your friend look at shipping internationally via USPS's flat rate options. The medium box #2 has the dimensions you need and ships internationally for 45.95 USD. Still a lot of money but not bad for international and less than half of $100.

I wouldn't mind try destiny 2 (I assume it's a battle.net code?) but can't really help with shipping, sorry.

UPS - I know it's slower but I have a few friends that regularly ship certain lollies and such back home to AU that I became addicted to on my first trip the the US. I get a 4kg box every few months from them (that's well over your 5lb) and it only costs me about AU$25.
I'm pretty sure customs guys love my deliveries because they open and sample the exact same contents EVERY TIME - I'm always short 4 Cool Aid packets, 1 of each "Candy" bar and 1 packet of Jellie Bellies - I used to be short a few Reece's Piece's too but now they sell them over here i don't get them included lol.
I had to stop getting the Cigarettes put in because of duties/taxes and I miss my Lucky Strikes - and they don't sell them in AU anymore either :(

Don't have any international shipping experience, but I wish you luck in finding a decently priced option!

As for destiny, never got a chance to play destiny 1, since it was console only, but it seems really cool. I haven't looked into 2 too much since I want to experience it myself, but the little I've heard makes it sound like it's fixed all the issues of the first one. It'd be great if I got the code, but I feel like other people would want it more then me.

I have family that lives in Australia and I'm in the US. I have mailed some things over there and it's always ridiculously expensive. I also ship things all the time, and work for an e-commerce company and deal with shipping logistics stuff every day.

Unfortunately your item falls in the "Sweet spot" ... not in a good way... it's not light enough to use the cheap USPS shipping methods (must be under 4lb) and not heavy enough to use the UPS/Fedex/DHL methods economically (more than 7-10lb or so)...

First rule of shipping is never go to the post office (or UPS store or FedEx store). They charge the highest rates at the counter. You always want to do it online from someone who offers discounted rates, or if you work at a company that gets discounted rates, shipping it there if they allow employees to use their shipping services and pay for it. For example at my job I can ship FedEx 2-day for less than half the price of normal ground shipment if I were to try to do it myself.

So, for your specific scenario, I think AuraMaster has the right idea. The Flat Rate box will be cheaper than any other scenario I could find. Even with discounted shipping, when I just estimated the cost of your shipment it would be around $65-70 USD. So the $50 flat rate box would be a lot cheaper (if the book fits in the box).

On the plus side, if your friend wants to mail anything else to you, they can stuff it in the flat-rate box and it won't cost extra.
