Entered thousands of giveaways, only won 2 fakes in the last 2 months. I'm about ready to quit this site, I spend an hour everyday entering giveaways for bundle games that I end up buying myself anyways (and a few non-bundled games with less than 0.01 chance to win). I dont see the point anymore.

if you cannot get yourself into contributor groups then solve the puzzles on forum :> They give the best chances to people who cannot or doesn't want to contribute. There are people who have won like 30-40-50 GAs solely on puzzles :> Puzzles are avaiable to nearly everyone and can give you really bigger chances to win :> I do at least 1 puzzle a month, sometimes I do multiple puzzles or puzzles with multiple rewards - and these gets usually under 10 entries, sometimes even just 2 entries per puzzle - so people there, regardless if they are contributing, have like 10-50% chance to win :>

I've tried puzzles. most are really obscure "guess the creators favourite game", or just random questions about things I know nothing about. I have managed to solve some, but there were a lot more than 10 entries. I also see a lot of threads with people saying "bump for solved" or "stuck on question 2" etc, and I cant even figure out how to get to the damn puzzle. So all that means for me is extra effort for the same amount of chance of winning a game, and the fact that not many people post what game the puzzle is for, if I manage to get there, I'll find out its something I don't want, or already have.
When I joined the site, I hoped it would be a place where people on low incomes (like me) would be able to win games that they cant afford to buy, but instead, its a place full of high-income people who buy each other games.

Well - about puzzles, I may be of help - try reading this guide I made a while ago.
And about your attitude from second acapit - low-income people can earn games ofc. But they just gotta try, not just lurk around expecting all other members to pour a rain of brand new AAA titles on them. You don't want to get into groups? Solve puzzles, ninja keydrops on forums or generally be active on forums - a lot of people make priv GAs with direct links posted on forums, or obviously hidden (again, refer to a guide). The puzzles with 2-10 entries are usually very hard ones, and you need a lot of experience with other puzzles before, but you have to start somewhere. Also - even an obvious puzzle/hiddenlink/direct link will at most have few hundred entries what is already a lot better than few thousand entries for public GA.

Thanks for the link.
Also, I dont lurk, I am active in the forums, my profile shows that, (I also mentioned I spend an hour a day on this site). I have seen a few key drops, but unless you manage to get to the thread the moment it was created, they're all going to be taken. Its not my unwillingness to join groups that is the problem. Its that groups expect me to give away games on a regular basis, which I just cannot do. If I manage to scrape together the money to buy a game, I'm going to buy it for myself, not to give away to people on the internet. Yeah that might sound selfish, but its not often I get the chance to buy myself a game, so when I can, I'm going to take it.
The last two giveaways I won were also fake, which means it has soured my whole experience here, and my attitude, sorry if you thought I was making it personal or anything, as I wasn't, I'm just fed up of my bad luck.

Well - you have 2 kinds of group - GiveAway groups and social groups - to the second ones you get exactly by being active - people know you from forums, your topics, chats etc, and there are many GAs there as well without requirement to create your own GAs. Yet 253 comments in six month and almost 1:16 comment entry ratio doesn't implicate you being active/social.
Generally the thing is - the more you care and try the more chances you have. If you just expect to keep winning without activity, contributions, socializing etc -well, eventually you wwll, but it won't happen very often, cause there are thousands people just like you with much less contributors. Want betetr chances? Invest (not neccesary a money, but at least time) and it will pay off.

I didn't use the forums for the first couple of months of being signed up, and I'm not a naturally social person, so for me, that ratio is pretty good. I'm not sure how many comments I have to make in order to be acceptably social. But, the forums are full of people being rude or sarcastic to each other, I've even seen support staff themselves being rude for no reason, plus I get called a leecher or treated like I don't belong here because I've only given away bundle games. Its a very elitist community so it leaves me wondering whether this is a community I want to be known in at all.
The more we talk about this, the more I realise I don't want to be here anymore, thanks for the conversation and the tips, but I think I'll be leaving now.

Feel free to leave - just keep in mind this: it's not the community being "ultra-elitist" - it's people like you who are over-demanding, with very high expectations and nothing to give in return. You're expecting to keep being gifted awesome games by generous people, because you cannot earn for them yourself, yet youdon't want to be social, cause you're not a social person, don't wan't to contribute cause you're poor, don't bother to even check forums for first few months etc. Basically you expect a community to keep giving you something in return for nothing, and when community don't it mean's they're a bunch of stupid elitists. With such an attitude you're right, you better leave.

Excuse me? I've tried to explain my reasoning to you, I don't have very high expectations (unless actually expecting to receive a game when I win is too much), I've told you I spend a decent amount of time on here, I've tried to be social (at no point did I say I didn't want to be, I just said its something I find hard, which is why I was quiet for the first two months, I looked at the forums everyday, but it took me a while to pluck up the courage to join in), I've tried solving puzzles, my luck just stinks, as my estimated win and actual win ratio shows. I have given away games, like I said, I cant afford much, but I've still donated some, its more than a lot of people on here have done.
I don't know why you've suddenly decided to attack me, I've tried to be civil to you and explain my experiences, maybe you haven't experienced the same attitudes I have because you've given away so many games, but I'm always seeing people saying that people with below $30 CV don't belong here, or shouldn't be taken seriously, that's not me expecting too much again is it?
Oh, and thanks for reminding me why I have social anxiety and why I isolate myself from people, I'll make sure I don't forget again.

Well - look at this from the other side. What I did try aall tthe time? Explain you that you don't actualy have to be "elitist" to win decent games here. You have puzzles, you have social groups (ok, with just bundle GAs it's hard to get to social groups, but still there are people to manage to do so), I even linked you a guide to puzzles.
What attitude you show in return? Claiming that you sre not-social type, don't want to waste too much time on puzzles, don't want to become active chatter, and yet you still expect that you should have been winning and if you're not you call us (including me) bunch of elitists. If we were such an elite group you'd be getting no public GAs nor puzzles whatsoever. We'd just exchange them in our groups amongst each other. Instead of doing so (giving games away just for profit - I give in group, I win in group) we also create publics, events, puzzles etc. And we get nothing in return, yet you still accuse us of being to quote you "high-income people who buy each other games". Ofc we will share our games with other contributors, group-members, friends etc. Yet we still give back to the community (what most of leechers don't), yet it's still too little, cause we should give everything away for randoms, cause if we do a group GA we're elitists, do nothing for community etc.
Like I said many times before - if you're not willing to give anything back to the community (and your activity feed doesn't show you as an active community member - I actually did google search for your "so called" active posts) and still feel commissioned to get something back from community and not be grateful for it, but just accusing contributors of being to elitist - like you said, you'd be better off.
About your so called experiences - I've been a "leecher" myself for few weeks since I joined, yet I got not such an attitude. Guess why? Because I was active and even if not contributing - giving away to the community in other ways. It's not the people who don't give away shitloads of games that are bashed in the community. It's people who expect or even demand god knows what giving NOTHING in return, and if they don't they blame all the others.
And about people below 30$CV - some of them are my good Steam pals - but they show no demanding attitude, solve my puzzles, are active forumers/chatters etc. Such people I will respect regardless of their CV. If someone isn't active in any manner yet demand community to give something to him giving nothing in return - yes for me such a people don't belong here. No matter if they CV is 0$, 30$ or 1000$.

Some of those 'bump for solved / stuck' comments are people being sarcastic because there isn't a puzzle in the thread and they just want to irritate the thread maker / make people look for puzzles / are annoyed by the number of similar threads. (See the contributor value threads for example)
If you think there is a puzzle, check the thread creators profile and if there's a private giveaway running them chances are there's a puzzle hidden in the thread. If not... the people making the comments are just being sarcastic.

hundreds of thousands of The Ship, Crysis 2, Just Cause. And then I randomly entered a Bientot l ete because the shop description sounded nice, won it and deinstalled it after 30 min because it was not way close to what I imagined it to be.

One day i remembered i really loved Hinterland. So i felt like adding it to my collection but first, i wanted to try my luck and see if someone could perhaps have created a giveaway on Sgifts for it. At the first try i found it, entered it and won. That was cool.
