Hmmm, Recettear maybe?
Or Swords & Potions (no-steam though: http://www.kongregate.com/games/edgebeestudios/swords-potions , http://www.kongregate.com/games/EdgebeeStudios/swords-and-potions-2)
Thanks for the caravan :D
edit: I forgot to put this one: Merchants of Kaidan

Recettear is adorable! capitalism-ho!
Besides Merchants of Kaidan, the trading aspect of Mount & Blade is very strong, and I believe The Guild II is focused on trading as well

Also try Knights and Merchants, although it's not purely buying and selling, it's also building and production. Useful review here: http://steamcommunity.com/id/revbiskit/recommended/253900/

Have you tried the Patrician series? Or Port Royale? Similar games, just different settings. Or if you want a more hands-on approach and enjoy space, the X-series is good (X3: terran conflict is probably the best, and it might well be worth just picking up that particular game and skip the rest of the series, as the story is not super important). If you want something lighter, then Commander. Conquest of the Americas is quite good.

I own many games I'm just looking for some to try out sooner rather than later. Those you suggested included :)
I have tried Port Royale it wasn't really my thing. The other three are on that dreaded backlog.
We'll see for how much longer, thanks for the suggestions.

I suggest Port Royale too, it's not really intuitive during first minutes, then it becomes addictive D:

2 is just improved 1 with some new features (commander's duel hahah :DD ), but for me after spending countless hours in 1 biggest change was that in 1 during battle you controled all ships in fleet (max 10 if i remember but it was so long ago) in 2 you have max 5 battle ships and you control only 1 in the same time vs AI all, makes me angry at start but I used to it, Patrician 3 style xD , maneuvers maneuvers maneuvers maneuvers and more maneuvers any mistake start again maneuvers maneuvers and finnally take enemy ship Raaarrr!! eh... good times :]
In Carribean every merchant need a lot of guns :>

The last game I played as a Merchant (at least close to it) was Two Worlds. Not a really great plot and combat, but I liked it.
I still have to start Skyrim, Risen, Witcher and some other games, not enough time :/
Thank you for the train/caravan!

Reminds me of my old days playing caravan in the original mount and blade :D

I enjoy to play merchant in Mount and Blade Warband, but with very small escort, this temptate the bandits to attack more often and brings you extra reown and money. Also the caravans are may be the only way to play early game in Mount and Blade With Fire and Sword (best way to get money, reown and expiriance), but the economic is very defferent and you can't afford big escort at this point... nether soloing big groups of bandits like in original or warband (muskets kills with one shot), so caravans are dangerous buissnes, but very rewarding :)
I see that you have Witch Fire and Sword, but never play it, so I can recomend it as a merchant simulator :) You need to get escort caravans missions (best way to get reown and expiriance in early game) from towns and buy and sell items by you own (price deferences are big). When you have enought money you can send your own caravans and live the alone or protect them (recomended).

Actualy guns make the game more balanced. Elite mele units, espetialy cavalry, devastate musketiars... but not without loses... and they are expensive and not easy to get :) So you need to use chaeap units (at least like meat shield), not only elite one and even cheaper one have place in battle - any peasant with pike can kill the horse of any elite cavalary or at least stop it and give a chance for good shot to your gun units. But the main deference is economy, unlike original and warband, you can't make your budget only from battles (loot virtualy desn't exist). Trade is very important in early game and in case that you lose battle and need to rebuild your stranght. You don't have access to elite fraction troops if you not part of the fraction and have very high unkeep. Tavern mercenaries are not very elite (exept musketiers, but you can't make army from only musket units, becouse cavalry will devastate them), the other new type of mercenaries are very expensive to buy (you need to buy their equipment, they can be cheap, but with bad weapons and armors) and have high unkeep... So no more amry from one type elite unit makes the game more balanced and realistic.
Don't get me wrong Warband is better game, but With Fire and Sword is better merchant simulator :) Both are great.

Not exactly a merchant but you play an overlord or overseer which can build merchant like things for your people.
Sire, our kingdom is under attack!
Many hours for me were had.

Patrician 3 or all Patrician series, youre a a guy with a boat and move all kinds of products from one side to other, also you can build a "house" and production zones in all the port cities:

So people mention Patrician and The Guild. I have The Guild 2(on Steam as well as DRM free). Played it for a pretty long time - and I must say - if you look for a game where you can be a merchant, and something more... This is a title for you.
A bit of edit: Turns out I also have Patrician 3 and 4. Played it a bit, but wasn't enjoying it too much, so forgot I even have it :P

I played a game. Forgot the name since it wasn't on steam. Set in different eras and you can trade and sell. You can also see your wagon/car. I don't think that it was ever finished

I haven't read the whole thread... If they haven't been recommended yet, both Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim. Just the amount of loot you can collect turns you into a traveling merchant.

In Rebuild 3 http://store.steampowered.com/app/257170/ you can trade with factions and with high enough leadership you can screw them over by bargaining.

Looking for fun games where you can play a merchant. I have a deep desire to overcharge my fellow man.
Those who came for the actual caravan here it is, but be warned the merchant's blacklist awaits those of generic thanks.
Jokes, funny pictures, interesting musical pieces, or cat pictures are welcomed, however. :D
