Me neither. I don't have to use my credit card to register and that's good because I can't use it for online things.
I had problems with one account. They suddenly wanted me to confirm my account with my credit card because they thought someone had stole it and now I can't get it back. 15€ or so lost.
Therefore I don't like to have much money on my account which is bad when there is good sales on steam and I don't have any money.

If you don't trust paypal, you cannot trust any online payment service. To use money that is on your paypal account, you do need a bank account linked to it. It does NOT have to be a credit card. A debit bank account is fine, and you can get those for free if you're a student.

Your account can be frozen for not having linking any finnacial thingy to your account. To unfreeze your account you need to link it. It can cause a charge back for a purchase on steam, which will result in disabled steam account. Steam has a zero tolorance policy for it.

^ please listen to this nice man over here.
PD. You DO need to have it if you want to feel 100% safe and secure when you buy/sell, there is something called Verified Paypal. Look into that. and then look into Unverified Paypal and see the differences.

that may be correct, but earlier you said you could pay with PP without ANYTHING linked to the PP account, which is false.

I once sent money to a friend from my PP acc to hers, but she could not do anything with it (neither payment nor transferral) until she got a debit card and verified it on paypal

I don't understand why did you post that pic. Are you begging for a game?

Can't you transfer what you have on PayPal to Steam Wallet (buying credits)? As someone said previously, if you have an account, it shouldn't require a cc (although it is recommended).
By the way, there are some Windows Updates for you to install.

Do you need a credit card registered in your PayPal to buy stuff or can you use money already on your account [without putting in a credit card] (i.e. money your friends gave you via PayPal.)?
Because quite frankly I don't trust them!
Also my Steam wallet needs me... http://imgur.com/9xy9T
