Yeah. XCOM is the same. New rule for me: Firaxis games should only be bought 2 years after release (when the complete edition comes out).

Welcome to the video game industry. And it's not exactly milking, since you're never forced to buy it.

And besides, your value judgements are yours and yours alone. If you buy something, you're conceding that the product you bought was worth to you more or equal to the money paid. So if you bought something for $10.00 and then you discover that it was $5.00 later, don't complain. You had to have valued that thing >=$10 or else you wouldn't have bought it, therefore you didn't lose anything, just ignored/failed to forecast a greater opportunity.

Gold Edition is what they used to call Game of the Year back when they made expansion packs, not cut-from-launch DLC. It was an end-of-life offering.

I won't bother picking up the Civ5 content I don't have until I can get it all for 5 USD. And Civ6 is out, that way I'm certain they're not able to release another high-priced 'dlc'.

The game industry has convinced me to beware of games likely to have DLC, and to avoid buying these titles at launch. I can wait three years for my B-games. I have plenty of complete-at-launch games to play in the meantime.

I dont care..i only play "Not yet another Earth map with TSL", every time and every game....and Maps from Workshop are also free.

I like that companies continue to support and create content for games more than three years after release. I like having options.

In all honesty, G&K and BNW are more along the lines of Warlords and BTS for Civ4 than normal DLC crap.

Still better than Magicka.

i suck @ civ so much. Barbarians always seems to know the exact moment to attack and the AI players declare war on me within like 10 turns of me coming across them. and that is on easy.

Not gonna buy any DLC till the complete pack/upgrade to complete pack is released. Just too many to try and keep up each time...not to mention all Civ 5 stuff in Australia is price gouged.

Such a strange DLC. Only the hardcore Civ fan would get this I guess :-/

BTW I stopped buying this crap, i'll possibly wait for a final super-mega-unobtainium edition in a humble bundle... Civilization is becoming The Sims... first they strip Civ 4 of everything good there was to make Civ 5, then they add it as DLCs... along with more useless DLCs...

the issue is that the game is flawed, and more than dlc's they are fixup filling up the gaps in the game =/

The DLC isn't really needed to play the game. You're missing what, a geographical map of Canada with random element? Fuck if i care what shape is the map. As far as I'm concerned, it's not a game changing DLC and they're not really putting a gun on your head to buy the DLC. If you appreciate the game, then buy the DLC to support it. If not, then you're not really missing anything.

still trying to complete the achievements (without the DLC) got the base game from GMG a while back, until i finish the base achievements then (hopefully the dlc are @75%off by then), Thats the time i will buy it until i conquer the world 10,000,000 times over!)

I just want G+K and BNW for all of the achievements. The base game (mods are cool too) is good vanilla.
