Ticket to Ride is an obvious choice... But on second thought not sure if it can be played with controller
Maybe if you could provide us with your backlog you could get better feedback?

Telltale Games, Stardew Valley, Nuclear Throne, and Enter the Gungeon :)

Ooh, might be a good chance to give Stardew a try, and Telltale games are definitely on my possibility list. Aren't nuclear and gungeon roguelikes though? Are they easy to save, or would I just get all mad when I'm finally 'winning' and have to shut down my laptop anyway?

Mini Metro ;) not sure if it works with a controller
Super Hexagon can though.

I checked the box on steam where only the games we have in common are shown.
Then I scrolled down until I came to the games you have zero Playtime in.
And finally scrolled through it.
Here are some suggestions taking your 45-90 Minutes Timeframe into account.
4 PM
It is a short Game you could finish in your given Timeframe, but do not expect an exceptional Game;)
Brothers: A Tale of two sons
A controller is all you need and could be finished in two train rides.
Halo: Spartan Strike
Again… a controller is all you need and missions are somewhere in between 2 and 10 Minutes. Personally I had fun in gaining 100% in the Game.
Lococycle
Very funny Game, I think roughly 6h long and a controller is all you need.
Tales from the Borderlands
Well Telltale!
If you like the humor of Borderlands (I assume you do ;)) it is a must play.
As usual with the modern Telltale Games it is an interactive story and can completely controlled with a controller
The Walking Dead: Season Two
Well You played the first one so if you liked it….
Warhammer 40k Kill Team
Twin Stick Shooter, nothing exceptional but a good Timekiller for inbetween. If you are into the 40k Universe even better.

Hey folks, I'd like to get some suggestions for enjoyable games to play on train with a laptop, usually with a controller. I have a 90 minute commute in which I don't always want to work/read, and would like to clear some of my backlog.
I'm going through Life Is Strange right now (it's a movie-ish game with few button presses and able to use a controller, so works nicely). Also... it's a public train, so please don't recommend anime VNs with .... 'specially dressed' ladies. The shower scene in Life Is Strange was awkward enough, bwaha, and I'd rather not fill the screen with Nep-Nep and friends dancing in a pile of pudding.
So....what games are great on a train, assuming I'd rather use an XBox Controller than a laptop scrollpad? Probably things that don't take a lot of action, are easily saved, accept xbox controller input, and don't need a network.
