You need to watch Another, is macabre too.

I mean, the first 15 minutes of the first episode should have been a tip off. I don't see how someone can start from episode 1 and make it all the way to the end of the series before going, "Hmm you know what? I was on the fence about the opening bloodbath, I thought maybe they would take things in a completely different direction, but that was darker than I was expecting after the tasteful introductory exposition on human experimentation gone wrong."

Elfen Lied is one of my favorite animes.

You should watch Higurashi next for an uplifting change of pace.

I liked it, the story is sad but captivating.
If my memory isn't failing me the ova is just an extra episode that goes between other two, and it's nothing worst that the rest of the series in the sadmeter.

Yeah I saw it. The anime basically took the first third of the story and then attached the manga's ending to the end of the anime. So there are 2/3rds of the story that you're missing out on.

Shigurui is much more disturbing to me, personally.

I saw it last week, at least 1 epi before sleep. I honestly didn't get it why so much people love it. Maybe I missed some important info or something, I don't know.

Yes it's kinda disturbing, but it didn't affected me in any way(I think). I found Black Lagoon or Psycho-Pass more disturbing.

Still I'm afraid of watching Hellsing Ultimate because of its gore, but my friends keep telling me is awesome xD
