Did you see Elfen Lied?
If you think the anime is disturbing, you should read the manga

The manga for Battle Royale is quite entertaining. Such that the author of the novel commented that the manga vastly improved upon his story and the depth of the characters.

I haven't watched it. I don't think I ever even heard of it. Same with Sakura Trick...
And yes, I am a newbie at anime. :P

Ah. Child's play. The first appearance, if I am correct, of the tentacle.

I mean, the first 15 minutes of the first episode should have been a tip off. I don't see how someone can start from episode 1 and make it all the way to the end of the series before going, "Hmm you know what? I was on the fence about the opening bloodbath, I thought maybe they would take things in a completely different direction, but that was darker than I was expecting after the tasteful introductory exposition on human experimentation gone wrong."

Yeah.... kinda the same thought that I had with Aeon Flux having a low body count...
Or Aeon Flux making sense for that matter, too.

You should watch Higurashi next for an uplifting change of pace.

Yeah I saw it. The anime basically took the first third of the story and then attached the manga's ending to the end of the anime. So there are 2/3rds of the story that you're missing out on.
Shigurui is much more disturbing to me, personally.

"And really, it is disturbed by the macabre and perverse is that anime.
Too many murders, an extremely macabre plot, some characters that are on the brink of madness (or even already lost the trial), all characters have a sad and dark past."
Since this is about non-existant beings and things, i don't see the problem.

That not really disturbed thing i think, actually it kinda sad. You should read the manga too..
Collapse of The World as We Know It for more disturbing thing..

I saw it last week, at least 1 epi before sleep. I honestly didn't get it why so much people love it. Maybe I missed some important info or something, I don't know.
Yes it's kinda disturbing, but it didn't affected me in any way(I think). I found Black Lagoon or Psycho-Pass more disturbing.
Still I'm afraid of watching Hellsing Ultimate because of its gore, but my friends keep telling me is awesome xD

Today I saw all the episodes (Not the OVA) of the anime Elfen Lied.
And really, it is disturbed by the macabre and perverse is that anime.
Too many murders, an extremely macabre plot, some characters that are on the brink of madness (or even already lost the trial), all characters have a sad and dark past.
I do not want more, no more, no more. I will never be the same. I think im going to see something less darker, like Sakura Trick <3
