"highest low." hmm.

Are they kinetic novels, or do they actually have meaningful choices?

they have meaningful choices, and by that I mean this vn is great. You'd rather digest slowly what's happening rather than finishing fast

On the first run you're locked on a normal ending, so basically any delusion trigger choices aren't important at all. On subsequent playthrough you'd better use a guide to navigate through convoluted delusion trigger system to reach a desirable ending. Also, the game requires you to reach all endings (maybe aside from b?) to achieve true ending. However, that doesn't mean that they're irrelevant overall, on the contrary. NoaH routes are necessary for understanding some of Child's characters.
Overall, DT system is the best (not sure about A;C) in SciADV series, way better than phone trigger or even more awful twippo.

Sounds very convoluted.
I've dropped a few games because they have to be played the way the devs want you to without you knowing how to do it.
I thought NoaH was after Child? is it a prequel?
Also, not sure what all those acronyms mean :P

[Think I'll just leave it on the wishlist for now]

Not really. The main plot is the meat of the story, as it were in the original PC release, I think original had only 2 routes, 1 bad end and 1 variation of the main route. Overall, the "heroine routes" expands the story quite well, when you consider some recurring characters in Child. So you're basically left with Normal ending on the first playthrough with the ability to use Delusion Trigger system however you like and make skipping process easier.
It's a fast read and the shortest VN in the series.
No, NoaH is the first game in the series, then goes Head/LoveChuChu, Steins;Gate/0, Chaos;Child/LoveChuChu and Robotics;Notes/Dash.
Still, Head isn't for everyone and has a different vibe from the rest of the series. Also, a lot of people are annoyed by MC for not being able to "self-insert" as him.
I have a feeling that I've encountered you somewhere, so I strongly recommend you to at least somehow try the first chapter to see if it's your kind of story or not.

This Spike Chunsoft sale is very good. Danganronpa 1+2+V3 is 22€, Zero Escape Trilogy is just 6,67€ which is a steal. AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative Deluxe is 75% off just 8 months after release. From the games I have played I can also recommend first Somnium Files game and 428: Shibuya Scramble which surpassed my expectations. It is also very surprising that Chaos;Head Noah is 50% off just 4 months after release.

Overall great catalog of games if you like VNs or consider to dip your toes in the genre. I have couple more in my library which are waiting to be played, but this time on Steam Deck from the comfort of my bed. :)

chaos;head's best sale was 70% like 4 years after release so you are going to wait a long time (if ever)

buying the bundle with chaos;head + noah is the best discount you will get probably ever

in my opinion in a few years it will be 80% just like the Zero Escape Trilogy. that one has a better discount and it is been an instant buy for me. they are also more popular games. let's wait and see

Bundle discount has changed from 10% to 40% this sale, which seems weirdly high for such a small pack. Decided to grab it in case they change their mind.

I was going to wait for a deeper discount on just the first game, but now you're tempting me!

Good to metion this guys/girls:
https://sonome.dareno.me/projects/
They made mod for "CHAOS;HEAD NOAH": CHAOS;HEAD NOAH Overhaul Patch:

Fully Translated from the Ground Up (correct bad ones, and translate "small middle text")
Translated Images
Translated Videos and Audio
Typography improvements
Bug Fixes
Additional Features (to better emulate X360 version of the game)
Most important: Decensored Content ("one route in particular had a whopping 500-line scene erased entirely!")

Spike Chunsoft can't do anything because the English ports are all done in-house by MAGES on the Japanese side (including the translations, aside from the original Steins;Gate), and it's been very clear for years that MAGES does not care about the quality of what they release to Western markets.

Yes is sad, to receive bad translation because some corpo don`t care about quality
That why I always praise for modders who care.

I do like visual novels, but the chibi art style is a huge turn-off, the characters look like children, it highly detracts from the serious tone of the story.

try it,the art doesnt look chibi at all (to me): https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2937657679
for me chibi refers to these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chibi_(style) ,which this vn obviously doesn't use
although, you could give zero escape/ace attorney a shot, they have more "serious" art styles

It's not as bad as og Higurashi/Umineko's art. Also it's just a product of its time. A lot of VNs of 2000s had subjectively worse character design. Though I agree with you that such art style generally sucks, but MC here himself highly detracts from the serious tone of the story.
