You appear to be implying that Steam should be limited to 'hardcore' gamers. I think it's pretty safe to say, we've already passed that point.

Missing this

And this, not to mention the fucking Casual genre. Steam is not exclusively for serious gamers (and Android is not exclusively for casual gaming -- with a nice tablet, you can already hook up a gamepad and play old GTA games, plenty of good indie games, etc)

you can do it with a phone too.

Yeah true; I was just trying to give the example of a nice tablet as a machine powerful enough to play slightly more demanding games.

So, if one want to buy a simple game and only have fun with it from time to time, it does not deserve to have the same benefits that a "normal" or "hardcore" or however you want to call game it would have being on steam(like sales a space where you can collect all your games and so on)?
Not all the games are targeted for "serious" gamers...

I don't even think they should be selling software.. why don't just sell movies and songs?
And maybe some t-shirts or mugs...

Actually, game-related Tshirts would be badass. They are selling Valve-related ones, but those are lame

I'd actually love it if you could get Android games from Steam. Especially if they did like "Steam Play" where if you buy the game on Steam for PC you could also play it on Android, similar to some of the Humble Android Bundles. Games like Angry Birds Space, Cut the Rope, Plants Vs Zombies, Osmos, SpaceChem, etc etc would be awesome to be able to download from an Android Steam client.

And you'd have nothing to lose, since most of us already own these games anyway.

Hmm maybe make the android versions of the existing games in the catalog (if they have an android version) available. Not android-only games.

Why android?? i don't think that it's a good system. and Windows Phone is more likely to support good games, since it has Win NT kernel.

Android has a very well designed Linux-based setup, whereas the Windows kernel is a godawful mess (can't find the quote right now but I've heard a Microsoft engineer say as much). Also, Android is one of the most open and popular mobile operating systems (if not the most popular), whereas Windows Phone is both unpopular and unopen - I don't think it's even possible for a 3rd party to sell apps for Windows Phone, but it'd be easy on Android (Humble Bundle already does it).

Considering all the mobile to PC games that get hated on Greenlight I don't see Steam doing that so much. Although a few games we do get to experience on Steam like Triple Town and Dungeon Hearts I can't see that going so well.

Yes. They should do a Android client.

Do you mean they should utilise the current app as a games client? Completely agree, if so.

A lot of people are posting "no" and then saying absolutely nothing to explain themselves. As long as Steam didn't neglect its PC marketplace, what would be the problem with expanding to Android? If you don't have an Android device, it wouldn't affect you. If you do have an Android device but didn't want to buy games from Steam, it wouldn't affect you. What's the big deal?

No because all developers prefer Google Play store

Android exclusive games, no. But as we've seen from bundles, there are actually a good number of games available on Steam that can be played on Android. So I wouldn't mind if they expanded the Steam app and allowed you to download games you already own to your Android device. You could go even further and allow achievements and game time tracking. And there's really nothing to lose if they went that route.

According to a report from a few weeks ago, Valve are investigating Steam for Android.

My OUYA (Android-based console) is on its way to me right now. I would love to have a version of Steam I could run on it -- meaning support for non-x86 based devices such as those running on ARM processors or any number of SoC solutions.

Huge amount of Indie games are in Android version too, so it should be just like with Mac version of some games, Available for you if you own it.

Yep, exactly my idea. Everybody that just said "no" on this topic is kinda of an idiot. This wouldnt affect PC gaming in any way. Hell, it would be awesome for people with android devices, being able to get PC and Android versions in one purchase. That + achievements and all that = awesome.

Exactly, It's great to see some people actually think sometimes rather than rejecting this idea without actually any argument whatsoever. And Mobile market is not so small, it's growing very fast.
