My very first game activated on Steam was Metro 2033. Still an excellent game today (the Redux being a great ravamping of it).

I was thinking the same when I saw this GA in the news
Original Metro 2033 is not my first activated game on Steam, but it is one of the first games I activated on my first year on Steam (2014)
And it also was a free GA on Humble Bundle back then

Xbox one they made it Free Weekend instead of Free To Keep limited time, but they acknowledged the issue and still fixing, just not sure if it'll be done before the whole thing expires.

M$ still hasn't fixed their mess on Xbox, but apparently, you might be able to keep the game if you downloaded it before the trial expires:
if you go through to the product page itself it will be installable - it is not displaying correctly and we are working with Xbox to fix this! Xbox have assured us that you will keep the game after the trail period expires.

Well despite of that still doubting people will be able to keep with just the Free Weekend button, despite it came out from someone who is working with Xbox directly, and Xbox from their own platform saying that.
Unless they change how things work so that'll be another story.
Either way let's wait to see what will happen when the offer ends.
Just hope it won't end up badly.

Sadly it seems to end up not well.
People didn't keep the game after.
At least good thing is they'll redo it again free for Xbox in future, just hope to see when and update this thread.
