Yes i said that word. I have a close affection with it i played it since 2001 and I sometimes come back to it now and then.

I am making this post to show my disgust for the company, a good friend of mine both a player moderator and a forum moderator of the game has had hos status removed from him because he made a video on how bad the bots and gold farmers and macroers have become.

Jagex (the creators of runescape) Wanted the players to vote for them for the golden joystick awards so that they win "the best free to play mmo".

I for one am disgusted with it and it has put me off from going back.

I commend it for what it is: The forerunner for such "scheme-games" as Farmville/Mobsters/MyCountry/etc.

omg, yeah the macroers and gold farmers are an ever ongoing problem on RS... but I think that has a lot to do with how difficult it is to get some high level materials/items... think of yew logs for example: there are very few tress and they yield very low logs- maybe a full inventory in 7-10 minutes (for me anyway at wc 86)... now people who are not at so high ethical/moral standards say: "why should I "waste" so long on yew cutting when I can be doing x?" and thus go into macroing (I am not even talking about the people who farm for gold for real world cash or the chinese laborers that play the game to make items to be sold for real world cash, etc).. btw what is the difference between bots and macroers? I always assumed they were the same thing (aren't bots a type of macro programmed to do a specific thing?)

Anyway, I still play once in a while but after reading this (and the frustration I had from competing with bots the last time I was on for yew logs), I might not continue playing either... :( thanks for the heads up on this chaosquall!

PS: will you be on LOTRO this weekend? If so, please give me the heads up so that I can log on to the game with ya :)

Yeah I decided to check out Runescape a few weeks back after years without playing it and was shocked at the sheer numbers of bots nowadays, like they were everywhere in large numbers.

I cannot understand why they just don't ban them wherever they see them, or whenever they are reported (after some basic checks)... if it so happens that it was a player and not a bot, they can appeal the ban or whatever... one thing I did notice though was that many MANY players (including mods probably) use macros in the game because some things are so difficult or time consuming (like writing trade announcements in a busy trade world at high speeds so your add appears on the screen constantly)...

That was another thing, the whole user interface had changed, while not saying if that was good or bad I will say I couldn't see the report button anywhere which doesn't really help the situation.

I used to play this game religiously back in the day. I haven't touched it for a couple of years, but I still have fond feelings towards it. It's a shame what happened.
