It seems I like playing co-op games alone.

Oh, you like the challenge? :). If you don't have anyone to play with, try twitch. I found a lot of great people there that I currently play games with.

I think it depends. For one, the co-op games need to have a decent player base, otherwise it just takes 10 years to find a single multiplayer game. And in some cases, you literally can't find any.
The player base has to be welcoming and non-toxic as well. Ahem looking at you League of Legends and CS:GO...

Singleplayer games are less stressful, especially indie games where you're just looking for a great storyline/good setting for a game.

I think you are talking about multiplayer games, not co-op ones. In my opinion co-op game is same as singleplayer game with only one exception -> you can play with friend(s).
But yes, when it comes to multiplayer games like Dota, CS etc. I agree completely with you. Player base is the key, but I've never seen a game where every player would be nice and helpful and forgiving. It's impossible to find it. But it's possible to find some people that are genuinely nice even in salty toxic games. You just need to look hard (or long enough) :).

I absolutely love games where I can play story, campaign etc. with a friend - like Halo for example. I always have more fun playing games with friends to share excitement and stuff. I barely play any single player games because they bore me so quickly.

Yea same here :). Much more fun to play games with somebody. Even an average game becomes great when playing co-op instead of single.

up! making friends? can't I just find one in the wild, catch him and take it back home on a leech?

I think you can! But I've heard they are very hard to find in the wild! Basement or an attic is more natural habitat for them. :3

Prefer single player games to co-op but I think it depends on the game. Love playing games like fallout which are single player game but if I am playing street fighter or fifa, then co-op is great fun. Having said that, I've played World of Warcraft a lot so I do like MMO's a lot as well. Playing hardcore PVP games can be stressful and not much fun especially if its starts getting quite serious.

That's a touch choice. Given equally good games, I would prefer co-op, but there are fewer great co-op games. And most of my favorite games are singleplayer.

I have sunk countless hours into Borderlands and Borderlands 2. I quickly grew bored of Titan's Quest solo, but loved playing through it in co-op. I enjoyed Torchlight 2 in co-op, loved Diablo 3 in couch co-op, had a blast with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light in couch co-op. I played through three Gears of War games and Halo in couch co-op with a friend. The Mass Effect 3 co-op multiplayer hooked me in a way I never expected. Co-op can make mediocre games fun, and elevate good games to greatness. There are many games that I would have never played through solo, but enjoyed playing co-op. I'm playing Saints Row 4 right now, and it's really fun, but I think it could be even more fun in co-op.

At the same time, I love immersive, singleplayer, story focused games. Most of my favorite games tend to be singleplayer because of that. Co-op games tend to focus on mechanics over story and immersion. The best singleplayer games feel very personal, and I'm not sure how you accomplish that in co-op.

And singleplayer is nice in that you don't have to coordinate schedules, convince your co-op partner to play when they don't feel like it, or even have friends to play with. ;)

singleplayer all the time, you can't disappoint and you don't disappoint anyone else but yourself.

I'd say I look for different experiences from both types of games.

If I had friends I'd probably like co-op. But I'm stocking up on those games in case I have friends in the future.
