Same. Genghis Khan was my favourite as well.
It's a pity Age Of Empires Online was cancelled. It was an awesome game. Clocked over 1000 hours on that.

Aoe2 was always a bit too slow for my taste. Graphics are nice even today, but the low FPS can get annoying.

Ah! A brother of the Horde! Good, very good! xD I didn't try AoE Online sadly. I'm wondering if the HD edition of AoE II improved the FPS, can't say I actually saw a difference with the older version. Doesn't look like they have done it...

It does have 60 FPS, but the multiplayer is 30 FPS and also lots of sync errors from what I hear.

Total War is a great series! I'm not sure about the prices, but if you look on G2A or similar sites, you can get them pretty cheap. I can really recommend Medieval 2Total War, Rome Total War and Total War Rome 2 (this one is pretty new (2013), so might not be in your budget). But it also depends on what time periods you are interested in.
