Steam Machine Beta Test/Steam Controller Impression Posted

Closed
Antilucid

I have a new badge. I am amazed.
http://steamcommunity.com/id/antilucid/badges/15

Edit: I did some research and as far as I can tell, there is no NDA. So my wife has agreed to help me do an unboxing video. I will keep this thread as my central area for updates. If you have questions, I will do my best to answer them as I can. Thanks to everyone who said congrats.

Here is a link to my unboxing pictures. I was having issues with video at that moment and I could not be patient.

I will update this later with specs and more.

Here is my first article in the series

My second article got delayed because of holidays and a death in the family. Here it is http://www.gameinterface.net/steam-controller-beta-impressions/

I'm sure they intended on people outside of the US to receive them, something probably came up where they had to change that.

Damn... you're one lucky user! :D
btw, can you sell it? (after a while at least!) cause if you can, I'm pretty sure you can get couple of thousand bucks on ebay for it! lol

The email I got specifically mentioned not selling it.

"Remember, the beta hardware is meant for your use. The beta agreement specified that it cannot be transferred to other Steam users. So please do not try to sell your hardware to anyone else."

you get to keep it?

According to the info when they announced the signups, its basically an indefinite loan. Valve continues to own the machine (which is why you can't sell it) and reserves the right to recall any and all units (shipping costs to be paid by Valve).

So its like most betas for hardware, where you test it out and then send back when its over?

I suspect that they'll just let the people keep the machines, rather than Valve having to pay for the return shipping on 300 used computers, but they retain the right in case of any hardware glitches. After all, it is a beta.

Cool to know that one from our group got it.

Be sure to tell us all you can (no idea if there is a NDA)

congrats, kind of annoyed that valve got me all excited and made me think that I at least had a 1 in 1 million chance but today revealed that they only selected candidates from North America.

I had people asking me what games I get. Here is what I was told:

To help you test everything out, we will be adding some games to your Steam account, including all the Valve titles, plus:

Metro Last Light
Bastion
FTL
Arma Tactics
Serious Sam
Hotline Miami
Beatbuddy
Strike Suit Zero
Don’t Starve
Painkiller: Hell and Damnation
