I would actually recommend this
driver
. I couldn't get motionjoy to recognize my bluetooth but with this one it works great.

It's an awkward shape for my small hands, the d-pad is awfully made and I hate the feel of the joysticks.

Well, I've heard multiple people playing games like Street Fighter IV or Mortal Kombat saying that the cross just sucks in them and they have problems doing combos or whatever. I don't play them so so far I really like my x360 controller.

The cross can be troublesome indeed for combat games. I remember feeling like my left thumb was slighlty burned after a long session.

Hold a mouse vertically and roll it on your face. It's my faves way to plays.

Look into some of the Logitech controllers. Most of the ones I've tried feels pretty nice.

+1 For those not man enough for vertical face-rolling action. (Seriously, though, logitech does make some pretty good pads)

get a XBOX360 controller.

and if that doesn´t help.

I´m using a "Speedlink XEOX Pro analog" and I´m pretty happy with it.

But then again, most others I´ve tried aren´t compatible with most recent PC-Games, since they all want an XBOX-controller.

I am also using that exact gamepad and it works like charm, cheap and feels really cool in the hand, fits like a glove.

Gamepad -> fitting like a glove -> Powerglove -> ... did you just insult my/your/our gamepad?

Logitech F310/F510/F710, depending on whether vibration or wireless are important to you.

I got a $5 Logitech PS2-like USB controller and x360ce to have it emulate the 360 flying plate design.

Logitech F710 is the best PC gamepad out there, even has an XInput mode for those stupid "XBox 360 controller only" games.

There is also speedlink gamepads that cost as much as the original Xbox 360 controller which also offer a Xinput and DirectInput switch as well as a Rumble button.

I have it for my xbox and use it for my pc from time to time. Although the analog stick padding is quick to wear and tear but I'm told they improved it on their newest versions (I have the first).

I've had this Saitek P2500 for years. They don't make them any more, though.

I just have an adapter to plugin my PS2 Official controller and it's all fine. Several years using it on my PS2 and now on my desktop and i'm fine with it, not even planning to buy a new one.
