Do you agree with the foreign policy of your government?
Well, I didn't ask anything specific so there's very little to flame about. The question is generic, like "are you happy when you eat pizza". :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Well the point is that you didn't ask if they like pizza
It's a controversial subject which may 'cause flame war, that's why I said so.You understand, don't you? :)
Don't take me wrong, I have nothing against these type of threads it's just good to avoid them as much as possible

Well, I'm pretty sure that out there, there are some pizza haters ready to flame due to it being unhealthy food. XD
That said, I'm confident in the maturity of this community.

BS, unless its a rule I dont know about. This mentality is exactly whats wrong with this world. Dont even bring it up because someone might get upset? If we don't discuss it, if we don't argue, if we don't get mad, then things stay the same, and our corporate rulers win. If the founding fathers of our nation didn't sit at the green lantern bitching about the government, we wouldn't exist and would still be part of the crown.

Keep politics and religion out of it. It never ends well ;)

For example. the world is talking about last fridays Supreme court ruling on gay marriage. However, marriage is a social contract which falls under states rule. The supreme court mentions the 14th amendment several times in their opinion, but they do not mention the 10th. Which states that any power not enumerated by the constitution or granted to the federal government by the states, belongs solely to the states and to the people. Their ruling, essentially violated the constitution, overruled state law, that had been ratified by the people of those states, and sets precedent for 5 people, who were not elected, but appointed, to make policy as they see fit. And the world has met this with joyous applause. We are a nation of sheep, we deserve what we get.
(Disclaimer) I am all for gay marriage, I am against how it was achieved. Given the current (as of last friday) status of states who had legalized versus states who hadnt, a constitutional convention shouldve been held. Only 1 or 2 states wouldve needed to change their mind to get a super majority voite, and either edited the 14th amendment, or added a new amendment, and it wouldve been done legally in a manner consistent with the constitution.

Exactly, the problem is not with the gay marriage per se but that the Supreme Court slowly creates a precedent to pass even more stuff anytime it sees fit.

I already have this game, so I will answer.
I don't like this weak and passive foreign politics, they must be more active. I dislike berlusconi and his party, who licks ass of our enemies. I laugh at greek government, which is communistic and also licks ass(btw in huge crisis).
I mostly agree with my government, however we must be more aggressive, but we try to save more lifes. also we are trying to keep balance, but only winner and looser exist in war.

Well i owe you some excuses, Snake here sees your games activated so I will remove you from BL. Hope you forgive me :P

http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/America "1.1Used as a name for the United States."
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/america "3 united states of america"
Yes, you are right that's not the only meaning, but it can be used as a name for the US.

Let me say that in Europe, when you say American, you actually mean U.S.A. citizen. Otherwise you use South American and Canadian if you refer to another part of the continent.
I find this curious, i had no idea that you could misinterpret this.
Comment has been collapsed.
The definition of a word often is different from the concept people has. In common language, in Europe, when you say Americans, everybody understands that you are referring to U.S.A. citizens, otherwise you would use a more specific term.
I can believe that for a Bolivian, American has another meaning. But still, most of the people here understood what i was referring to, you did too ;)

And that misuse of the term American is part of that whole foreign policy with an attitude that has been used for years IMHO.
No Asian country calls themselves the asians, no European country calls themselves the europeans.. but it's alright for the US to do so.. because it's been done for a while doesn't make it right. All american countries all over north, central and south america are actually "Americans", that it's been used otherwise for so long doesn't make that not true.

The answers are mutually given as if they're mutually exclusive, whereas some of them are not.
I am not interested in commenting my rationale for my vote, or any sort of expanded opinion on US foreign policy. The United States is the only current superpower on Earth, meaning we possess great power on the global stage. I believe the US is misusing this power for its interests abroad and intervening in countries in which it has no business being. I sympathize with the idea of spreading democracy and equality throughout the world, but when we ourselves fail to adequately embody these qualities, it is rather sanctimonious to expect that from regions far less developed than ours. Occupation has replaced colonization, but both typically involve some form of subjugation. I'm not keen on US imperialism. I believe the ideals and ethos of the United States are admirable, but when we ourselves fail to represent them, should we really be pretending like we do?
That's as far as I'm willing to expound. As a word of advice, you'll have far better results starting this thread elsewhere, or simply read old threads elsewhere about US foreign policy opinions. Better yet, you should do your own research and read the opinions of political pundits, then draw your own conclusions. I understand you want to hear an "American" perspective, but the forum for a digital video games giveaway site is probably not the best place for meaningful political opining.

Are you one of those people that include Canada as 'America'?

As a continent yes, as a state no. But it's very often confused for one of the united states where i come from :P

That I don't understand. It is its own country and pretty big as well. To confuse it with a state is hilarious.

American foreign policy is terrible because it doesn't react to foreign trends. The Middle East is especially problematic- all the way from when we screwed with Iran during its bid for legitimate democracy, we've essentially stuck our foot in in almost every single time. Our two most powerful allies in the region (Israel and Saudi Arabia) are barely on speaking terms (which is to be expected) and we keep failing our interventions and failing to intervene when needed. The Iraq and Afghanistan not-quite-wars were devastating, but tolerating the butchers that are ISIS is both a tragic consequence of the fear of being seen as imperialist or exploitative and a lack of willpower by the political cadre in Washington D.C. This is not only a huge ethical problem, since we basically sit back and watched while Yazidis were victims of genocide and many Christians and Muslims who do not agree with the radical ideology of ISIS were murdered, it also has had significant negative repercussions in regards to international security. In waiting for a coalition, which is unlikely to form precisely because of the terrible failure of American foreign policy in the past, the United States has sacrificed any chance of solving the situation without terrible bloodshed.

The US government is more full of assholes than your standard dollar store brand hot dog. They're not for the people, so much as the people's money. And saddest part? Because of how the system is set up, the ones who're most likely to abuse power have the easiest way to it, and those who would not never had a chance.
It's something that's far too complicated to describe in just one forum thread, so here you go. You get a cat instead.

My government wants to give the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism access to nuclear weapons and Iran repeatedly said it will use them for genocide. That whole reset button seems more like being buddies with terrorists and telling our allies to f-off.

IMPORTANT: The poll is for American people only. If you're not american skip the poll and enter the GA please.
I was not sure if I was making a mistake by creating this discussion, but I didn't find any rule that prohibited it.
I'm an European man, and since it's hard to have any contacts with American people for variuous reasons, I taught that this was a good place to have an answer to my unanswered question.
The discussion is not ment to create flame and hate, so vote and if you feel, add a very short reason why you voted that.
The question is: Do you agree with the foreign policy of your government? The question includes the last two decades of government, so that younger and older people can answer. I know it's a very vague question since it has many variables, but are you generally happy with your foreign policies?
GA for the American friends out there:
