Hi guys, Ive been having trouble with steam support over purchasing issue probably related with region pricing, and I thought like sharing the invaluable answers of steam support...:

ISSUE: When purchasing final verification screen shows wrong pricetag (more expensive)

=====

1 Message by you on Thu, 21st May 2015 15:45
I am trying to buy Batman Arkham Origins during this weekend sale. This game is listed as 3.49€ for my region: Spain (after applying the 75% discount over the original pricetag of 13.99€).
I add it to the cart at this price. However when I reach the final verification screen after selecting a payment method, the screen shows that a total of 4.99€ will be charged to my account. I believe this to be an error that should be promptly addressed.
I have tried different purchase options (buy for myself, buy as gift and store in my inventory) and they all show the increased price at the end not corresponding to my region. Any help with this issue would be welcome.
Regards,
4brain

Hello 4brain,
Thank you for contacting Steam Support.
We apologize for the delay.
If you are encountering a pricing discrepancy between the Steam Store and your purchase confirmation page, this may be caused by outdated/cached information in your browser or Steam.
-Ensure that you are not using any IP proxy or VPN software with Steam.
-If you are using a web browser, please try accessing the Steam Store through the Steam application on a Windows, Mac OS, or Ubuntu Linux computer.
-If you are already using Steam to access the store or are still encountering this issue after loading Steam, please restart your computer and test the issue again.
Sales that have expired or pricing errors that have been fixed cannot be offered at a later time.
When completing a purchase on Steam, the price shown on the final purchase confirmation page is the amount that you will be charged for that transaction.
Steam does not offer price matching, and Steam Support cannot modify the terms of a transaction for a single user.

Hello again, it seems this ticket was closed but the problem was never fixed, and I have now encountered it yet again.
I have tried all the suggested steps/advice but the problem still remains.
I live in Spain, EU Tier 2 (I have lived in Germany in the past years but not anymore, I moved back to Spain several months ago).
It seems that whenever there is a different pricetag from EU tier1 and EU tier 2, despite the fact that I see the correct EU tier 2 price in the store and when I add the Item to my basket, at the final moment of payment confirmation, the price changes to what it seems the EU tier 1 price.
Please could this store error with my account be fixed?
Additionally, in a matter that might be related, every time i log in in the steam client or in the website, my location is reset to Germany, where I do not reside anymore since last march. And i have to manually set it to Spain EVERY TIME I log in.

For further details, the first time I had this issua was around a month ago when trying to buy "Batman Origins", and now it has resurfaced when trying to by "Broken Sword 3". I have check and it seems these are the only two games I have bought since with dfferent pricing across EU Tiers, and are also the only ones where this problem appear. So this leads me to suggest that quite probably the problem is related to my moving from Germany to Spain and somehow the store not properly identifying that change, even after changing my store location manually every time.

Thanks for your support,
I hope this issue can be resolved soon.

Hello 4brain,

You are able to purchase games on your Steam account even when traveling or residing in a different country/region.

To do so, please login to your Steam account and click on "[Your Username]" in the upper right corner of the Steam Client or browser window, and select "Account details".
In the right hand column beneath the account wallet balance, you will see an option labeled "Store Region". Select either the home region for your account or the region which you are currently located.
Please make sure you are using a valid payment method for the region you've selected.
Please note that wallet credit can only be used if you choose to purchase from your account's home region.

If you selected the region you are currently located in, the home region for the account as well as its wallet currency will be updated to that region’s currency once the transaction has completed.

This is getting exhausitng...
First, I am trying to buy a game FROM MY CURRENT RESIDING REGION: EU TIER 2 - SPAIN, NOT WHILE TRAVELING.
As I throroghly explained not once but twice already, I already do all of the steps suggested in this latest non-answer.
After changing my store page manually as suggested, the price in the store is corrected, but when I proceed to FINAL PAYMENT CONFIRMATION PAGE, the price showed is still NOT THE CORRECT PRICE ACCORDING TO MY RESIDING REGION. which is Spain, NOT GERMANY ANYMORE.
This happens every time an Item has different prices for EU tier 1 and EU tier 2, and always shows the price corresponding to EU Tier 1 higher than the price that corresponds to my country (Spain). DESPITE THE FACT I RESIDE IN EU TIER 2.
Could someone actually read my problem and not offer me a bottled useless answer?
Thank you very much for your time... I think

To be honest I couldn't bother reading through all of it, but if you have money on your card or paypal or whatever, you can buy it on the humble store, right here and you'll get it faster than trying to solve the issue using steam support.

Yeah I see ypur point, but I already have some money on the steam wallet from trading and gems and shit like that, so Id rather use that, as that money is already lost converted into steam-fake-dollars :P.
In huble store id have to use even more real dollars XD. So right now i prefer buying on steam even if in humble is cheaper

You obviously got copy-paste answers. They clearly get paid for "results", meaninig quantity of closed tickets. The support guy is by no means to blame for it. The allmighty gaben is guilty.

no in this case it's absolutely necessary to highlight the key-information....
...but of course a short message like:

SUPPORT I LIVE NOW IN SPAIN FOREVER! -STOP- CHANGE MY RESIDENCE REGION TO SPAIN -STOP- I LIVE NOW IN SPAIN FOREVER! - STOP- MY HOME=SPAIN -STOP- I AM IN SPAIN FOREVER - STOP- ME=HOME=SPAIN - SPAIN! SPAIN SPAIN!

maybe then there is a 20% probability that they change it

that's my steam support!
they can't even understand the obvious
"hey my steam account is blocked and i can't login"
"Sorry for the delay, have you tried deleting system32? If you tried, are you still able to contact us somehow?"
"yes, i can use my phone"
"please destroy it and never contact support again, thank you!"

but seriously though, is rare when they actually help, this is getting worst by day!

scan your ID card or something similiar to have proof you now are really a resident in spain.
Write them again and add your proof (Id card etc.) and ask to change the home region to spain.

The fault is within steams policy of the home region, they introduced it so people always have to pay higher prices and cant use cheap prices from cheaper regions while travelling.
One of the changes which were made when regional restrictions were introduced......

Yeah but its weird, they implement a system that reads ur IP location, if you have been there long enough then you are allowed to change the shop to that region. Which I am. For example I can change buy games that are not available in germany, so that is working no problem, but however they seem to have a problem with the pricing when the pricetag is different... its weird.
I have introduced a spanish credit card, so that is proof enough....
When i was here just for a short trip when i still lived in germany i simply bought from the german shop, but now i live here, so .
I bet people moving back to germany after living in spain are NOT having this problem of being forced to pay the shceaper spanish price ;) hehehe

But seriously how damn shitty can steam support get?!

Bots don't sleep or need days off. And yes, it looks more and more probable that steam support is a bunch of bots that give canned responses based on keywords in a ticket.

That is a good point. It is one of the first I did at the beginning when i moved back when i noticed the steam store kept defaultign to germany and nothing.
I just did it again jst in case though. THe store default seems to have been fixed. But now the store does not let me complete any purchases of any kind. weeee! lol
so new ticket for steam support! so much FUN! :P

I contacted support last month and they gave me sh*tty answers too. I wrote back twice saying I felt no one had really read my messages. So on their 3rd message they finally read it and actually offered me a solution. I even sent 4 images to explain what was happening and I felt they didn't even bother to see it. They probably saw them after I said that if they had already seen it, they would know what the real problem is and fix it.

I suggest you send them screenshots of you problem. You can add the images to your message.

Hopefully they fix this for you. It was a lot simpler when they used your IP for everything but now it's hard coded to your account's original region. I get why they changed this, but they need to train their people to fix problems like yours and not give canned responses. Good luck!
