So... you want the game to go to Steam... and for Steam to send it to the winner when they win. SteamGifts isn't affliated with Steam in any way, so even if you asked Valve nicely, they'd wonder what you were high on.

On weed bro. But that doesnt matters at all...
Didnt knew steamgifts wasnt related to steam (u log on steamgifts trough steam so i guess at least they know each other and are agree in something)
Anyway thats prolly the reason of all.
thx for clearify

Well, it would be a hassle to say, set up a bunch of bots to handle it or whatever other method they decided to use. Also, there is sometimes the need to reroll a giveaway, which could be much more problematic, depending on how the system was implemented. Additionally, this would require some creative implementation to handle keys as well, or else disallow making giveaways with keys at all. Honestly, I don't think the odd fake giveaway or the generally slight delay between winning and receiving the gift is enough reason to warrant it.

hmm well, ofc i dont know how to do it exacly...
but it seems they just need an small server to host a database where appears the gifter, the winner and the steam-key.
it seems now this website it just works to make the giveaway honest and random, and to let us all create and win giveaways...
its so problematic to let the gifter add the winner on friends, make the gift to him via steam...

and it would make the site more prone to hacking attempts

omg lets see

Do you even realise what hacking means? If steamgifts are going to keep the gifts/cd-keys on their end, that would mean a sweet honeypot for any hacker who somehow slips past their firewalls. He will basically get all the games currently given away on the site.
And people who visit the URLs posted by strangers who add them on steam deserve to be hacked.

its not the same, throwing your game in some gift-eating-soul-not-having machine that will than forward that gift to whatever steam user random number generator picks, or sending your gift personally to the person that happens to be luckiest, and wins it..

So that explains why you're trying to alter how this site works without ever actually gifting anything on it.
Comment has been collapsed.
im not trying to alter a shit, and that explains nothing. lawl
just dont understand why they let all this happen:
Giving the chance to create fake giveaways.
Giving the chance to create a giveaway and end up not gifting the game.
Adding the winner to steam and send him an url to hack him with phishing or trojan or keylogger or what fucking ever? And what shocks me the most, its that ur all agree with it :/

To my knowledge, nothing even remotely like that has happened. You can only make three giveaways max until you've done giveaways that went smoothly already. At best, someone trying something like this could get three e-mail addresses to try and send something to, chosen completely at random. They really wouldn't even be as much of a threat as the tons of 419 scams that land in people's e-mail every day. Those people at least have huge lists of random addresses to try, not just three. If you have an e-mail address and you get spam there, you're probably already at greater risk than you are from this site. On top of all this, this place pretty much runs on kindness and goodwill. Giving things away for free rarely goes hand in hand with scamming people unless the free stuff is a lie to lure the mark.

im pretty agree with you.
but the point is that almost everyone knows about mail spam or can distinguish a bot from a human bean, so its easier to fall on something like that if a guy adds u on steam and talks nice to you saying ur the winner of his giveaway. Lot of ppl never won anything here so they dont know how it works, since FAQ doesnt gives much info about it.
i hope im not right, but i think things like that are a mine for scammers.
Comment has been collapsed.
''FAQ doesnt gives much info'' Have you really read it?The FAQ is giving enough info to know how to send a gift or how to redeem one.You can get hacked even if you haven't won a giveaway.
FAQ: ''Don't download stupid keygens or don't click on that link because you can get hacked''?
Comment has been collapsed.
first of all, most of ppl doesnt read the FAQs at all
they are quite hidden since are not a main theme of the mainpage ( u gotta look for em down the website on small title)
thats all what FAQs say about it:
How will I know I've won?
A green banner with a winning message will appear on each page of SteamGifts.com while you are logged in on your account. Clicking on the link in the green banner will redirect you to the winning giveaway. SteamGifts.com does not currently notify the winners of giveaways in any other fashion.

And if you're given a URL... well, who the fuck would click it? I don't know of any way to gift with a URL.

I think it's against's steam's policy to own more than one account and to have one act as a bot, but let's say this is a account being driven by a person. This person needs to have a (huge) list of winners and the list of giveaways, not only that he needs to be on the account 24/7. :|

in fact i wanted to be E = MC VAGINA, but u cant use "=" for nickname.
jon lajoie ftw...

Part of the issue is that, well, it sounds like something a giggling twelve-year-old with use as a name. Given the "lol, you've never seen one" maturity of that response, +1 to that theory.

ye call me a kid for that and all u want guys, i love stupid humor, and as ive allrdy said its just a wink to Jon Lajoie:

which for sure u will find hilarious, offensive, giggling, inmature and so stupid.
he's just one step forward on ur mentality

I couldn't get through even a minute of that shite. I'm no stranger to immature humour, but for the love of god, it has to be immature humour. The only thing funny about that video was his outfit. My opinion of you just dropped considerably further.

No-one, I expect. I just felt like mentioning it.

Regardless of how you do it no one would trust it who is Giving Away games. If someone who is getting free games for nothing doesn't trust a giveaway maker, no loss, but if the giveaway makers don't trust a system that could Easily be used by Steamgifts to steal hundreds of games at any given time... No giveaways will be made.

The last time a bot controlled something, Wall-E almost died and lost his memory and the chubsters almost never made it back to Earth.
Do you want something like that to happen on Steam gifts? I didn't think so.

lawl the tribe against me for saying it would be cool if there was a more safe way to do all this
thx god this is a charity website where everyone is nice, looks like u are a sect of scientology and i just blasphemed against ur leader
TOPIC ITS DONE

Make up your mind. Are you trying to alter how the site works or not?
Your idea was full of holes and people pointed that out to you. You got uppity about it. Not our fault.
Comment has been collapsed.
im not trying to alter anything, and im not bringing here a project to do so.
the answer was just WHY IT DOESNT WORKS LIKE THAT?
the only ones with constructive answers were Memoscorp, wbarton and YOU on ur first entry.
i dont mind ppl saying whats wrong on what im asking, thats exacly why i created this post with that question.
The only reasons why my idea wasnt good is cuz steam got nothing related with steamgifts (which i didnt knew), and maybe for some problems to apply that (which are nothing related with bots or else, a program and a database well done would be enough)
Comment has been collapsed.
Your original post was phrased in a "why" way, yes, and I don't have an issue with that. Most of your others, however, were in a very distinct "let's do it my way."

Do you know how many admins are here? 1
Do you know how many mods are here? Do you know what they do? they mod the forums.
What you're asking is for someone to be 24/7 available for someone to send a gift, and if there is only ONE single problem, it all relies on the mod or admin who took the gift, in the end briging more problems than solutions.
This usually works when we're talking about a trade of keys, you use a middleman, someone both can trust, but on this case, its too complex.
Comment has been collapsed.
Because when everything is automatic, that "automatic" needs constant checkup, even more than the site already has atm, then you have the possible conflict of having Steam look at the "bot account" and the incredible amount of transactions it has made, and i can bet pretty much anyone would think there's something fishy going on, so imagine later on explaining to steam support that you have a site dedicated to "trading", where everything goes by one or several bot accounts (to which could or not be associated to a single IP = more problems in the end), and COULD lead to the suspension of that account in particular, or even worse, that IP.
Just a small example, hope i was clear enough :D
Comment has been collapsed.
You go ahead and reverse engineer the Steam client, code up a custom client that automatically accepts trades for incoming items, activates a custom script that verifies the winner from the site and then automatically trades the item to the winner.
We'll wait.

Translation of OP:
OP is asking why sg isn't used as a middleman that holds the gift till a winner is chosen.
Solution: None, here's why. SG has no connection to Steam other than sign in and thus would have no way of getting the games. Also they would have to validate the gifts, bundles or illusive keys... Now lets look at how many games are given away.

Hey i know you. Weren't you the guy who won my World Basketball Manager giveaway and then tried to put it in your inventory "to gift it to your brother" instead of activating it on your account. I knew i know you from somewhere

Why the system its not working like:
when u create an entry, u MUST give the game to steamgifts.
when giveaway finishes, steamgifts send it automaticly to the winner.
:/
