Throw in a shit-load of CGI in a mess of lazy and uninteresting storytelling, seemingly non-existent character building and boring drama that you can't give a shit less about and you would get the awful and mind-numbing Man of Steel. By the box office reception and general feedback, i have now believed that people would like anything that has flashy CGI action sequence in it. I like Zach's previous movies such as 300 and Watchmen, but now, i have lost hope for 300's sequel.

For the love of all thing that is good, don't watch it.

did you watch the movie? if so, were you lost in those CGI and unable to identify good acting by Cavill, Shannon, and Crowe? or do you have this indescribable hate for anything that is mainstream or seen by you as mainstream? I have a feeling you condemn any movie with eye-catching visual as half-witted waste of money or a bad B-movie.

I'm curious, besides watchmen and 300, what are other movies you consider good?

The acting is of the mediocre Hollywood's cheesefest. Even if it is "good" by any mean, it can't save the absurdly pathetic writing

And wah, because i speak my opinion on your little precious piece of crap that now i'm instantly dubbed as an ignorant mainstream haters. Well damn, the internet.

I was being all civil and stuffs, yet you just made a statement about it's just your opinion on my "little precious piece of crap". You must feel so proud of yourself calling movies shitty by making a generic comment of how stressed the film makers was on the visual aspect.

and in which movie do its actors have good acting in your opinion? unless it's sth way over the level of David Goyer's writing skill like Woody Allen, Stephen King, or Seinfield then I would recommend you revise your statement.

My girlfriend majors in the theater so I did get to learn abt the art of movie and theater a lot, I hope you also have some credibility besides being an user on the internet.

all right, i apologize for that. But still, it is pretty much a piece of crap in my mind.

well, i don't major in theater, nor do i know anybody specialize in that field, but imo if the product isn't good or at least doesn't give me enjoyable time, whatever brilliance behind it doesn't matter. My personal favorite actors are Charles Bronson, Adrian Brody and Ben Foster. Not all oscar-winning actors, but they did a convincing job in the roles that they took.

now, to MoS. The best three actors in this movie are Cavill, Shannon and Diana Lane. Crowell? i couldn't careless about him, his role of "the wise guide" doesn't appeal to me, probably. Amy Adams is bland. The rest are passable i guess, but i want to talk about Cavill and Shannon. I feel that Cavill's role was bogged down by Zach's attempt to make the movie gritty, that i feel Cavill was rather restricted and awkward. Shannon's character could be better, if there is any development that worth it, because heck, it doesn't matter if Zod kills the protagonist's father if we can't relate to either of them. May be just let Zod kills some more random characters, instead of babbling about it?

As i said, the story telling is lazy. Things happen because they happen, there is no real build up to the events that would happen. Each scenes seem to be only good at leading to a CGI sequence. I don't hate CGI, after all it is a tool to make good movie. Avatar has a story of a child cartoon, but it achieves its purpose with CGI, to showcase the world created from the mind of Cameron that i could immerse myself in it (but don't think that i would give Cameron further credit). Contrast to Avatar, the sequence in MoS is obnoxious. Explosions following explosions, and then building collapses, explosions are slapped to my face every 5 minute, to the point that i get sick of it. Yes, they are well done, but they serve no purpose at all, except for may be preventing the audience from falling asleep. Oh, there are even aircraft hitting sky crapper. Talking about American getting over 9/11?

so my last words: MoS is a mess. It is a cgifest, yet it wants to be gritty because Nolan's name is in the credit. Thus, i have the first half about people frowning and some explosion, and the other half is all explosions. Mind-blowing.

tl;dr: i hate the movie, you like it. Done.

Is it worth it? I've been dying to watch it as of Last Year, but recent footage that I saw made me think otherwise of watching it, I'm a Superman fan, but this looks a bit to futuristic and sort of 'cheesy' now, I don't know, hopefully it's as amazing as I originally thought :D
