Errata:
I unfortunately spelled “caught” as “cought”, and “The Adriatic Sea” as “The Adriatic see”. There was also one other typo in the text after the correct solution. None of these three typos had any relevance to the puzzle, but they have all now been corrected.
I also once accidentally referred to the international master thief "Carmen SanFrancisco" as “Carmen SanDiego”, who is a completely different (and presumably still under copyright) character. I regret any inadvertent confusion between these two very different characters.
Solution:
The puzzle indicated that Carmen left traces, and that you needed to trace her. Tracing out her path spelled letters as shown in the attached picture.

My Ancient Greece super-hunt makes steady but slow progress. My daughter spent a chunk of tonight, drawing the somewhat unusual (fictitious) things you might see if you study the frieze of the parthenon long enough.
As such, the hunt for the mythical art thief Carmen SanFranciso carries on apace. Can you figure out where she is headed this time?
