What's the point of giving away games?

If you do, you get contributor points that give you access to more exclusive giveaways. But you should do it for the right reasons, not for personal gain.

Both, but it's better when they give away games as kindness.

You make other people happy, you get more KARMA points and eventually you will end up in heaven or other awesome place :)

Because making someone happy (and sometimes making their day) is a rewarding experience.

Giving away a certain amount of games or a certain amount in contribution value will upgrade your account to triple star S-rank platinum level.

it's boring to have too many games, it's fun to give them for free :p

I give away games because i have too many of them but that will change. As part of my ongoing contribution to Steamgifts, i will be gifting away an aircraft carrier soon

I would give them away even if there was no contributor value at all.

What's the point of creating threads?

It feels good to give away games. Even if I can't buy Steam games for this site, I do buy physical games to give away to people I know on other sites. Right now I have copies of Folklore (PS3), Suikoden 5 (PS2) and several other games on various systems that I'm planning on sending to people over the next few weeks. Only a couple in the US fortunately, the rest don't need to worry about region locked games.

I would say it is "out of the kindness of there(their) heart" but a good portion of the site has been missing that points lately. So, yeah, I guess you COULD do it just to enter contributor giveaways, but what's the fun in that? If you make one don't forget to get that warm fuzzy feeling about making someone happy with the game. That's a much better reward! :D

giving away is fun.. most of the people giveaway for the sake of giving . it's a shame that I haven't givenaway more games than what I won here... hope that day is not far away when I'll start giving away more :/

Very few things in life make me smile or happy. The only thing that does is seeing other people be happy. As such I get a lot out of giving something to someone and having them enjoy my gift and thank me for it.

Of course the flip-side is also true and I really dislike it when someone isn't thankful, breaks rules etc. However the good far outweighs the bad in this situation.

I like spreading happiness. The world is just a better place when everyone stops trying to earn a buck off of every single thing they do. We are all human and we should watch out for eachother.

Contributors are crazy...they spend money to give games to totally random ppl and many of them are pretty ungrateful,too,cuz they obviously think they deserve this.

Besides, why asking this question on SG? It wouldnt exist without contributors ^^.

Oh and yes..its a fucking addiction thats more expensive than smoking
