"News" category to post everything related to games updates, releases and more.

  • It would be great to also have a feed for the posts located in the tabs, so users and visitors can find interesting things that were posted in the forum easily. It could have a different layout, more related to News websites.

A function like this one can stimulate users to create content and consequentially revenue from ads, also indexation for SEO purposes.

There's a lot of benefits that i see coming with this new function, but maybe i'm just too hyped about it. Can you change my mind?

Yeah, why not. I don't see any downsides and would encourage users to actually create discussions about the lastest news.

I already can imagine entering the SG front-page and spot a lot of games news sided with the games giveaways.

I keep posting news but they end up buried in offopic. New category would work, and could also push those posts to a blog-type page for an experiment (replies could be shown as number of comments and you open the entire page once you click on it/title).

Just like that! You said it all! I'd like to discuss and read the opinions of SG users, it seems more curated than other places with tons of trolls.

Great idea, I hope it gets implemented. I can't see any imminent downsides of it.

i expect even more people copy-pasting articles from sites, instead of just posting links to them. 🤦‍♀️

Not a problem if they just credit the source, right? I mean, how to expect from an user to create a whole new article about something if there's already a lot of it.

We have a lot of people that can create original content, but expect from them to create everything is to much.

they could at least give their opinion, it's pretty dumb to copy-paste a whole page, post it here, and wait for comments.

better to post a link, let people check it by themselves, and give an opinion or comment about it.

I agree with you about that in every ways. Just post and leave it be isn't cool at all, rules should be applied.

I'm not the kind that seeks for games sites anyway, i'd like to watch only things about my owned games and Steam does it great, but i'd realized that SG is a great place to discover games, why not use the community to discover news too?

You know, soon we won't be able to use links due to new EU laws so it will be our only option ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Kappa

Yeah! (I don't know nothing about that) Let's oversee what should be done to prevent the downsides of the new law.

That's not a bad idea for sure and those that want to read the news can do so and those that don't want to read it don't have to. ^^

Great idea. I enjoy all my news in one convenient place. Also I'm pretty bitter that they got rid of facebook trending :P

I don't look for it too hard so i'm mostly the one who discover only hyped news or ads, rarely i can discover something indie before 2 years.

Curated news coming from common people should be very nice!

What will be considered a news tho.

Some people consider a new skin in Fortnite news ... other dont consider a studio getting closed down to be news .

Where is the line being drawn ?

The line is called common sense, but it'll work mostly like it already works on forum:

  • Interesting news? It will last more because of comments.
  • Poorly news? Will last less because of lack of commentary.
