Is it a persistent problem (for more than a day) or something just happening in the last couple of hours?
If the latter is true, I would assume some hickup with Steam's servers.

Weird in my browser (Edge/Opera/Firefox) there are no drop down menu.
And the button for joining is also where it should be?

That is how it looks on my mobile (smartphone browser) by default.
Try clicking on the three bars in the top left corner.
There you should be able to change it to desktop version.

On the website when it looks like this i know 100% that you can change it.
For the Steam Client (PC) on the other hand i do not even know how it is possible that it will look like this. So i can not tell.

i had this issue on the website version but not on the app. Basically, I was somehow using the mobile version on the website, had to use the dropdown and found it in there.

How many groups have you joined? Iirc there is a limit and for groups unless something changed. I think 1000?
Chances are it's nothing but steam going crazy or a cache /browser/phone issue but just throwing an extra idea out there

The mobile version can accidentally be set on a desktop browser even if you're not on mobile. The answer according to reddit (the subreddit is private but the google preview showed the answer) is that "You can go to the menu on the left and click view in desktop mode.". The menu should be three lines on top of each other and looks like this:

Click on the menu ( the upper left icon of the 3 lines) and then View desktop website
If you want to change back to mobile view even on desktop, scroll all the way down and there will be a button View mobile website

Hmmm do you have ad block? Maybe somehow an element getting blocked by adblock?
Probably not the issue, but I once blocked an element on a site with uBlock element picker. And because in the code it was connected to an element higher up on the page, it blocked that as well without me knowing. Was on another site than on Steam for me. If you have nothing manually blocked on Steam you can disregard this, probably not the issue. But wanted to mention it just in case.

well i dis abled the ad block on brave and it looks the same on Steam though the desktop app as well

1) What happens if you open it in Microsoft edge, does it work?
2) have you tried clearing your browsers cache
3) Is your steam client standard, Ie you haven't tried adding an adblocker to it
4) You haven't hit a switch in your browser to only view the mobile version, perchance

must be something from Brave, a use a lot of browser before, safari have problems sometimes, seaMonkey and IE too.
best for me are Firefox (used for years until 2015) chrome (most used now)… Opera runs well, comodoro dragon runs well.
I don't remember another, but tried others for sure.
someone recommended me Vivaldi, but I didn't try it yet.
if I don't remember badly, Brave have some "pay you for using it" with their own "coin/money", maybe is something related to that, have their own ads, or something like that.
I'm using chrome now, even if it's eating ram like a beast, better performance, and, at least for me, it's faster than Firefox nowadays.

I need some help i can't seem to join any Steam groups anymore - i tired both though the app and website versions but no follow or join buttons for any group - anyone know what is wrong or what i did wrong - thanks
Also when i go into a group i do follow the drop down menu does not always do anything like announcements it does not change but then i go into discussion and then back into announcements then they will come up - anyone know why?
i did like how the groups used to look anyway to change them and remove this drop down menu because like i said it does cause me a lot of problems
