No thanks! Not interested in the early unlock, so I'm not risking anything! ヽ(`Д´)ノ
Nope, I have to save money.. So I'll skip this month! (・A・)
I cannot spend money I don't have... Unfortunately.. (╥_╥)

Well... That's not an enticing early reveal...

Yeah, because someone complained about it last month. Since apparently one can pause while being an annual subscriber? They didn't test it though.. :P So I thought I would just leave that option out.

I read this comment and asked support about this just to be extra sure (I was using the single month option because I didn't know you could pause a month in multi-month plans) and they confirmed it's possible to do so.
I didn't test it, of course, but the example I brought was pretty straight-forward.

My question was:
"Basically, imagine I subscribed for 3 months, starting from July, but August is not appealing to my eyes. Can I pause my plan before August is revealed and still receive July, September and October instead?"
And the reply was:
"Yes, you absolutely can pause! In your Account Settings, when you click on the link Cancel my plan, you will be given the option to pause for a month."

That's a good thing, I'll probably change my plan soon.

Its a Paradox game again.... do they ever do games without cashcow DLC's :)

those include only a few more options, big content and gameplay change comes allways with free patches. I dont think you can call just one more company which doing that. If you buy any paradox game early then you will have a game for several years, which changing allways, even without buying any DLC.

I actually think paradox is the one company that does DLC right although I balk at the music and cosmetic packs, those just seem retarded to me

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Dunno, can you ever look at a DLC list over £100 and say it feels right? CK is awesome but that's a stupid chunk of change nevertheless.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I have a simple criteria:

1) Is the base game complete and playable on its own?
2) do the DLC add enough to justify the additional expense?

Just becaue there's 50 different DLC to choose from, doesn't mean it's necessarily bad. But not all DLC are wroth it

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Same that is how I am and CKII is one of my favorite paradox grand strategy games of all time and for me I first bought CKII base game when it was on sale and to me the base game is fully complete and the only thing that can be restricted is the different cultures/religions you can play.

But you don't need to have all the DLC to enjoy the game, like for me I just picked a few dlc here and there for different cultures/religions that I wanted to play as like the pagans and stuff - and I remember before I got CKII i've watched a bunch of videos in the past and if you look at it the game does get updated and some features for like free so it isn't like when you just purchase the base game you have like a 4 year old game?

Lol the game has 2 expansions (others are just a cosmetic pack, ebook, soundtrack and upgrade packs). Yes, due to it being a Paradox game it'll have more expansions in the future but now your argument is invalid.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

This game has only 1 expansion... There is a story pack and a bunch of cosmetic stuff, but you don't need that trash.
They'll probably make a lot more expansions through the game's lifetime, though.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

same. However paradox grand strategy games have free patch every few months what change a lot in the game, making new experiences in the game and greatly improve replayability in time. Those patches are free, paid DLC just unlock some more minor features. The big content in those patches are free. I dont think there are any other company which updating their game for like 4-5 or more years with free content patches. The few extra option in those DLCs more like just to support these free patches.

I can believe it implemented in a decent way but my spontaneous reaction is not taking this in to consideration what so ever :P

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Still, sometimes they go overboard...The content packs for example are just plain robbery imo. If it was included in the dlc i wouldn't be complaining at all. But i seriously payed around 200 euro for EU4, and a little bit less for Ck2. I do have quite some hours invested in the games but sometimes i wonder why i even keep supporting them. Not to mention adding stuff that breaks the gameplay unless you buy the dlc. You could play without the dlc but truly unbalanced suddenly, because AI can use things that are locked to you. I do not mind if they would release dlc and it wouldn't affect the gameplay for people that don't buy the dlc. I feel its a very passive agressive way of selling dlc...Just my 2 cents though

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

AI never use the content locked for you.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It does though. Before i bought common sense dlc on EU4 i saw them developing provinces which is a locked feature if you don't have the dlc. It doesn't develop it as high as a player would but they definitely will develop provinces. i saw it happen alot. To a point that i usually just played a vassal game instead of outright conquering provinces myself.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

i wanted to say exactly as common sense as example. before i bought it AI not developed, small one province countries do a lot of development, their development stayed the same. after i bought those one province countries started to be 30+ total development around 1700+. It was even stated by paradox, AI using only those abilities what available for you too. I think you just remebered the development numbers wrong. BTW, events were allways there to change development of a province.

But Undertale was a disappointment, because I've grown to dislike the game because of it's rabid fan base D:

how was your experience with the game?
im not sure if i want to try it out or give it away or use it for trading
ps. ive never played a paradox game before

Comment has been collapsed.

it is the perfect paradox game to start.
It is easy to learn because of 2 reasons:
1) all factions have a similar starting point so it allows the game to introduce mechanics slowly to the player
2) the tutorial is great; it basically explains every menu/tab and it repeats itself every time you enter that menu/tab unless you tell him to stop. This allows you to keep the advice of the menus you have a hard time while hiding those that are obvious.
I have around 100hs on the game and it was my first paradox title, if there is anything you want explaining i can give some feedback

stellaris a great game specially if you are looking to learn paradox games.
Paradox DLC policy might scare you but you should know that the base game is thoroughly enjoyable without DLC;
there are 3 DLC. One is a "skin" pack, another adds mini bosses to make mid game more interesting and the third adds mostly mechanics to allow small empires to be stronger and competitive in the late game.

Not as much as Hearts of Iron 4, but it shouldn't be too bad. I only played for a short amount of time so far and already felt like I started to know what I was doing. So definitly way more accessible than for example Crusader Kings 2...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yes, it is very friendly to beginners mostly for 2 reasons:
1) similar start to each faction means that you get introduced to mechanics slowly without much pressure
2) The in game tutorial is great, every menu/tab you open it will explain what that tab does; it will repeat itself until you cancel it. So if you don't fully understand a tab/menu you can keep the help "forever"
