Electronic Super Joy. Getting the star on Hell Club made me want to tear my eyes out and feed them to a giraffe.

Demon's souls was more difficult in general, while vanquish challenges are hard as balls :P

It's one of the hardest games of this generation but it's difficulty is on-par with that of earlier generations. Demon's Souls is harder than Dark Souls imo.

The hardest games I've played are Battletoads, Super Meat Boy, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Resident Evil 1 Gamecube remake (The extra difficulties were ridiculous), Devil May Cry 3 (original non-nerfed version).

It isn't half the difficulty of the old Battletoads or Super Ghost n'Goblins with the double playthrough needed.

Died over 250-300 times while playing Dark Souls. That game severely punishes the player for every little mistake or brain freeze or hesitation.

Really? I used to beat the two of those with my eyes closed! There's so many games out there that I simply cant do (most of these indie platformers tbh!), but Rebel Assault 1 & 2 weren't a challenge.

Super Spy Hunter, for the NES. Used to try and try and try to beat it in the late 90s. Always thought I got close to the ending but then I kept dying. Fast forward over 10 years ago, played it again on PSP (NES emulator, blah) using save states, wasn't even close to the ending. In fact, I never did get around to finishing it, guess I should one of these days

Super Ghosts and Goblins on Super Nintendo (Some of you know the original arcade cabinet without the Super in the name.)

Hell of a game.

Rastan Saga arcade cabinet. It ate up all my pocket money within 1 hour every week. And 20 bucks a week with a game costs 1 buck for 3 lifes is awesome.
Nam 1975 arcade cabinet waas another pocket money killer and I never finished it.

Rastan ate all my money when I went to the local skating rink back in the day, and have not beaten Super ghost and goblins to this day.
