Had an idea for "bonus" Giveaways within official giveaways.

I have over 1000 keys for games that are "blacklisted" for normal GAs on SG (Previously free/Too discounted etc), and thought maybe I could create one Normal giveaway, but also give extra keys through steam chat as a "bonus" to the winner. Just to make the GA a bit more fun.

Is this within SG rules and does it sound like a fun idea? All the normal rules would be followed by for the actual GA, it would simply be an added note of text mentioning that the winner will get some bonus codes via a cut and paste through steam. I see no difference between dumping the keys in a leftover thread and doing it this way. CV is not affected in any way, it just seems to be a good method to create more of a buzz for the winner.

Sound good? Or is there an issue I haven't thought of?

EDIT: Test run is up. Be in it to win it.

Who is the greatest of the great amongst those of whom are really really great?

Lobo
The Main man
The last Czarnian
That comic guy from the 90s that looked like a reject from the band K.I.S.S

Only issue I see here ,will be those jelous kids spamming this topic and telling you that you're crazy by giving away that much games to only one guy :D
No really , all is within rules

Other people do it, I don't see why it would be a problem. :)

I had no idea others were already doing it. I don't see much of other people's GAs. Now I feel silly for asking.

Nah, no reason to feel silly if you didn't know.

Most drop the keys behind spoiler tags on the giveaway, but adding someone on Steam and dropping them a key yourself is no different (and it might end up with a better "home" that way rather than being ninja'd)

That's exactly why I didn't like the idea of dumping them all in a thread. It would be chaos with everyone crying "bots took them", and no one would know what was used and what wasn't.

Thanks for the feed back guys, I think I'll go ahead with it and see how it goes.

Sell them through trade section for a cheap price like 1-3 cards and by selling those cards on market gain the money to buy another giveaway-able game!

I left trading. It was because I was fed up with trading that I first checked out the GA section in the first place. Before that, I never really knew the giveaway section of steamgifts existed. Sounds silly huh?

But yeah... no thanks. No more trading like that. Especially for stupid cards that are a pain in the butt. I just sold nearly 2000 cards this week and it took me HOURS to confirm each and every single one. I sure as hell wouldn't want to trade for them.

Are you aware of an add-on for fast-selling cards on market ? :

Steam Inventory Helper

You can sell cards on market by just 2 click.

Unfortunately every single card needs to be verified by mobile authenticator now. --each one, manually, one at a time.....
Either that, or wait 15 days for the item to be listed.

By using Steam Desktop Authenticator you don't need to confirm your items manually. Select the auto-confirm market transaction and items will be listing on the market.

yes, I did use it and my antivir did not report anything malicious (online scans was also mixed between found and not found and ones that fund this trojan are known for having false positives), my account did not got hijacked when I used it (and it would be a sweet target, because I had back then like 2 pages of Steam gifts in niventory, few hundreds tradeable items and 70+EUR Steam Wallet). So do I say it's safe? I do. Am I 100% sure it's safe? No, because unless you can view the source code and compile the program yourself you can never be 100% sure. Not to mention the fact that while program itelf may be safe your PC may not be safe. If you already have trojan for example that screencaps your screen it may screencap security code and it can be used to hijack your account. But the same way if you're using Authenthicator on your smartphone it can also get infected and same can happen ;)

sounds like you are not using it anymore?

i probably would use the authenticator, bc confirming every sell is annoying, but i have a Windows phone so i can't

I stopped using it because I finally got a "new" (well, old, but it can run it) smartphone that I could use Mobile Authenthicator on ;) On one hand Desktop Auth has it's pluses - like auto confirming all trades. But on the other hand I'm often not on my home PC, I log into Steam and SG from many locations - while traveling, visiting friends and family etc, and with Desktop Auth you basically canot log into Steam or any site using Steam API login while you're not on your home PC, which is a pain in the arse.

So long story short - I stopped using it, but not because I think it's bad design or unsafe, but because I got opportunity to use mobile auth on smartphone instead and it fits me better because of often logging into Steam / SG in different locations.

Well, i sold 150 cards in less than 10 minutes. It's safe because you can unmark it when you are done.

I've tried using that and had no luck.

Every time it appears to be working, but it never shows the actual confirmations. Thanks for trying to help though.

I had an event a while back where I gave away random stuff that was bad and most didn't have. Whoever won that GA also got a free game from their wishlist from me. If I understand you correctly that is the same general idea but flipped so you should be good :)
