I play League and community isn't bad. I never saw anyone begging for something. It's biggest community in the world so ofc there are some toxic people but it's not often as in many other games.

CS:GO is cancer and so is most of it's playerbase, and the reason for that is because it's so popular and populated.
People in general are just cancerous, and the more there is of them, the worse it is, and CSGO is one of the most played PC games, and always the top 3rd or 2nd game on steam being played.

If they took the smurfs/solo-que vs. pre-made and matches played into consideration rank would mean more, I went from nova3 to mg2 back to silver4/5? and back to mge on my main which has about 500 matches played of which most are solo-que about 400. On another account I have 10 premade + ~10 solo-que matches and that one is on LE.
MM system where 5 pre-made are not set up against 5 solo-que and DMG with 10 matches are not matched against DMG with 700 matches, it would maybe be more balanced :P

I have encountered the same with the dota 2 and TF2 community, though they are not as bad now since most the stuff doesn't sell well anymore. It is almost as if all those scammers/sharks migrate to the next big thing with high-value items. Assuming it is Free to play, has a market, and has players that do not know the value of their stuff.

I'm pretty sure that the majority of CS:GO beggars are mostly only begging for expensive items, really. They couldn't care less if it was an expensive CS:GO skin or a TF2 hat, as long as they get something out of it. CS:GO skins simply tend to be easy to cash in, especially knives.

I think anybody who spends money on a functionally useless thing like a weapon skin that does nothing but changes aesthetics, is obsessed to a degree. TF2 items, CS:GO items, doesn't matter.
To a degree the same goes for Steam cards/emotes/backgrounds. Although there you can have a very small loophole saying Steam levels add more friend slots and buying cards/emotes/backgrounds supports the game publisher at least a little.
