I got those two Half Life 2 games show up as well recently. I think it just automatically adds it if you have some combination (or all) of HL2, Episode 1 and 2. I had bought Episode 1 before I saw it happen. Honestly, those two are more tech-demos than anything else.

I don't have any Half-life games on my account other than the original which shows up in my library, which is only a partial download and not playable. It's part of the required files to run CS:CZ.

Have you tried actually installing and playing them?
I know when I got Deathmatch: Source from a friend that Half-Life: Source appeared in my library but I couldn't install it, it said "Purchase" where the "Install/Play" button is.
If you can actually install and play them, then that's awesome and maybe Gaben has a secret crush on you. ~_O

Yea they all work.
What you are describing in your post is exactly how the original Half-Life is in my library, because I own CS/CS-CZ.

Turns out I was wrong. You didn't need to fill out a form. But it was not automatic since you needed to visit the page, dingus.

"Where does it say you needed to visit that page to get the games?"
"Effective immediately, all owners of ATI Radeon graphics cards may receive a free copy of Half-Life® 2: Lost Coast and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch via Steam, http://www.steampowered.com/ati_offer1a/"
I get it that you're new to Steam, but stop being so dense. The only way Steam figures out your hardware is through the hardware surveys, and even then it doesn't give you any free games. How do I know? Because this is how I got those games years back. All you have to do is google the url and you'll find people backing my statement.
Steam isn't an intrusive software just so you know.

You're absolutely wrong. All you had to do was have steam installed and running. And then: "Steam will automatically confirm the presence of ATI Radeon hardware and then enable immediate access to full versions of the games free of charge."
You can keep throwing out insults and completely misinterpreting what the page says, but it will not change the fact that you are wrong.

You might wanna check your account details page, to see if you got these games recently or perhaps a long time ago and didn't notice.

I have CS:S (All CS games), but this is the first I have seen these 3 in my inventory.

Would not be surprised, HL2 deathmatch was fun...

What?? I had cs complete but I didnt get hl1 for free... I bought it :/
Comment has been collapsed.
I didn't get HL1 for free either, it just shows up as a stuck partial download in your library if you have CS:CZ installed.

O I C something now.
I never actually bought this, but it looks like somehow my CS:Source (the only one I have anyway and that's what it says in my account history) somehow turned into a http://store.steampowered.com/sub/42/
... and then Lost Coast come with any HL2 game free.

"these were always free" is a completely false statement. I know it for a fact as I bought these games back in the day.

haha well probably in the orange pack, but THESE games were ALWAYS free....

Repeating yourself doesn't make your false statement any more right. Even now those games are still not free. Just take a look at the store. I bought those games around the same time I bought TF2 back then (yes it wasn't always free).

i wish that would happen to me DOD:S is one of 2 valve games i still miss

I wish I had DOD:S. Didn't get anything with CS:Complete package.

Well, HL2: The Lost Coast was a free addon if you own HL2, it was a short little map showing off some (what were at the time) new effects or something when it came out

Oh, that's cool! I was under the impression it was just HL2 :P

I have DoD:S now, too. I already had the other ones, but this is the first that I've noticed it in my library and badge list.

You lost me. Please copy and paste the quote of the exact part which is a complaint in my post.

I just added the newest bundlestars set to Steam, and was looking at my uninstalled game list - when amongst the games for they keys I just entered out of nowhere I noticed I now have sitting in my library:
Day of Defeat: Source
Half Life 2: Deathmatch
Half Life 2: Lost Coast
Anyone else ever have something like that happen to them?
edit: they show up on my account/games list on the Steam website too. Odd
