If you're looking for something cheap, I'd recommend PAYDAY 2, although keep in mind the devs are being shitty now with microtransactions and bullshit DLCs. With that said, you can't deny that the game has some pretty solid gunplay and an active player base too (although most veterans have moved on already)
If you can spare some more, I'd say go for Killing Floor 2. Extremely fun, especially if you have friends. Oh and have you tried Dirty Bomb? It's a F2P shooter that's quite fun and you actually don't have to pay anything to enjoy the full experience. Just play and you'll unlock everything you need eventually.

I actually played killing floor 2 a little at free weekend a few weeks ago and quite enjoyed it but it seemed like a game that would get boring pretty fast, I mean it's like you get to see everything in few hours of gameplay. Is that the case? Cuz if it actually has more to offer I would totally buy it. I love gore!
And about PAYDAY 2, I have it already but well, got bored with it and can't really play it anymore :D
Oh and about dirty bomb, is it an arena shooter?

Yeah, I guess you can say something like that but I guess the replayability comes from getting better in handling the situations and mastering the higher difficulty. Heck, I'm 23 hours into the game and I'm still having trouble with hard lol
About Dirty Bomb, it's not exactly an arena shooter. Every map is like a small campaign, where to teams battle it out to carry out their objectives. For example, if you're on the attacker side, you might have to carry the bomb to detonate a building where the defending team will do whatever it takes to stop you. The game is class based, so the dynamics and replayability is there even with the limited number of maps. To make it easy, just think of the game as a hybrid of Call of Duty and Team Fortress.
Give it a shot, you'll love it if you like shooters.

Left 4 Dead 2 is a classic! I can't compare both of them together since they're in a very different genre. Killing Floor requires you to survive the incoming waves, upgrading gears inbetween. While L4D is a point A to Point B kind of game with objectives in between. L4D is much more focused on teamwork because go solo once and boom, a hunter or Smoker will get you.
Good thing you remind me that. It's a solid option. Go for it if you can't decide on Kf. Plus, the player base are pretty active, even for an old game. Added with custom maps and mods, definitely worth the money!

I hate F2P games :( It's a good thing that you can play for free but when you actually play those games for a while and finally start enjoying them, suddenly in game purchases come up and make you hate yourself for liking those games.
My last F2P experience was warframe, that game was awesome until I found instead of farming for hours, you can actually buy everything with money. I mean you can farm all you want but you'll never be as strong as someone who payed hundreds of dollars for it.

Hey SG!
So as the title says, I'm going to buy some cheap multiplayer titles and wanted to ask your opinion.
Please suggest some games with an active player base, I don't care about the genre as long as it's not a moba or a card game.
Also here's a little gift.
