Hey there guys.

I own 3 Xbox 360 Controller gamepads (all wireless), the problem with them being though that I only have two of the 3 battery pack thingies (I do not mean the rechargeable ones, I am talking about the default case where you put in two batteries, I lost one of those).
Also while playing sometimes the controllers just shut off and I think only one of them works somewhat okay at all.

I am now in need of a good gamepad for my PC, I tried playing with my PS3 controller but I am getting bluescreens every now and then + connection issues when using the MotionInJoy tool (ds3).

I am having trouble understanding what is best.
Should I get a wireless receiver for my computer? (20 €) (Problems: I can't trust the other Xbox 360 controllers and I would have to be changing batteries... + I am not sure if multiple controllers can connect to one adapter and whether I could actually play with my friends that way or if all controllers would be one controller for the PC [Like connecting another keyboard or mouse])

Should I get a wired controller for my computer? (15-25 €) (Would mean I only have one controller + the PS3 one that is unstable)

Should I get a bluetooth adapter to connect my PS3 controller via bluetooth to prevent connection issues with the USB instead? That should be significantly cheaper but I would have to stick with the unreliable MotionInJoy tool...

What are you thoughts or perhaps even experiences?

Get a wired controller. And it's not bluescreening because you're using a PS3 controller, it's bluescreening because it's having another fatal error that activates while you're doing whatever you're doing while the controller is plugged in. Go debug that.

Totally agreeing with that the man said!

The Issue can be traced back to connectivity issues while using MotionInJoy. I never have bluescreens and I only get them briefly after my controller stops working or I hear windows "New Hardware found!" or "Hardware Unplugged" Audio.

Yes, Google indicates that motion in joy is a pile of sloth crap written by 1 amateur programmer. Try This instead. Someone has a sendspace link to the file at the end. I'm not sure how much that mij program/driver/code-bomb has messed up your rig already, but if you can uninstall it that would probably be best.

I've never had problems using Motion in Joy.

I used to use motionjoy. But between using a website as a driver config page, requiring a second, outside utility to remove tracking drivers, and the existence of the tracking drivers in the first place, I'll never touch it or recommend it again.

I dunno man. I googled some of it and someone mentioned he was getting add popups, but nothing like that ever happened to me. All I know is I installed it, set it up, and my PS3 controller worked with my video games, and I noticed no unwanted or malicious software or adware running.

I have a wireless receiver for my X360 controller too, and it says on the box that it can be connected to up to four controllers. I didn't try it tho, and i think in games where you have split screens (like Split/Second) you can use more than one.

The wired XBOX controller is great for a lot of games, plus you won't have to worry about your batteries. I've had mine for something like two years now and I'm very happy with it.

I use a Logitech F710 and haven't had any problems with it. It is wireless though.

+1 running 2 of them now for 2 player games... works well on my machine (have heard about drop out but never experienced it). Batteries seem to last okay too..

You can get this: Super Nintendo Controller USB, personally looks cool, not the best I think because of amount of buttons, but how much you need? this probably will be good, but you can get some of these to play games with your friends instead of buying only one for a highest price.

Go to website called deal extreme, they sell spare parts for bunch of things and get spare battery cases.
Wireless receiver is great, you can connect 4 gamepads, I even managed to connect dj hero controller on pc (planning to use it as additional controller for effects in mixing software). As for battery life, I usually get 20hra from a pair of cheap alkaline batteries so it was never a problem for me.

Son, I am disappointed and I disapprove your behaviour.
If you have to go with Gamepad, go with x360. They say it's the best.

Some games just work better with a controller. I mean I wouldn't play an FPS with one, but Assassin's Creed is just weird without it.

It's way better for most stuff other than FPS, RTS, DOTA,... but platformers and Action Adventures like Darksiders, Assassins creed are more comfortable with them ;)

If you have a PSP with CFW installed, you could use that as a gamepad. Of course, you wouldn't have a right analog stick or R2/L2 buttons but hey.. it's something

This is all you need. Connect the USB, start the homebrew, Windows will detect it as a generic gamepad and you're all set.

if you can find a Logitech Chillstream - get it.. i think i have had mine for 8 years soon and it works flawlessly and it has a fan inside it that keeps your palms from getting sweaty palms - plus it is shaped almost like a x360 controller

I had one of these, it's great, but my dualshock3 + motioninjoy is better.

I also have one of these and still quite satisfied with this. Windows identifies it as XBOX 360 controller, so no driver needed, and it works as perfect as a Microsoft one.

This is for 20€ Speedlink Xeon USB don't know how much cost in a similar store or amazon in your country. Also there are a lot more PS3 controllers that are for PC too, for lower price.

Many games are way more comfortable to play with controller rather than keyboard and mouse.

Yeah, say what you want, but I just don't find playing with mouse and keyboard that enjoyable. Controller just feels so much better. Especially for Fallout, Skyrim and the like. I can see why he would want one.

It all comes down to the person I guess... and the game. Fairy Bloom Freesia for example is downright impossible to play with a keyboard. Platformers (Super Meat Boy for example) generally are better with a gamepad too but I never had a problem with using the keyboard for them. FPS/TPS with gamepad? Forget it, can't play them with one to save my life. A lot of people say that TPS are meant to be played with a gamepad, and FPS are apparently easier/better. Nope, sorry, playing FPS/TPS with a gamepad just feels like torture to me.

The wireless receiver for Windows supports up to four controllers, just like the 360 itself, so I would recommend that. They don't sell them by themselves anymore, though, you have to buy a bundle which comes with another controller. As for the batteries, you could just go buy a Play and Charge kit, it comes with an extra battery plus the charger and it only costs like $15 these days. I've had mine for years, still works pretty well and you can charge it off your PC with an update. Or you could get the quick charger instead, but I've never tried it.

I have an Xbox 360, not the Slim, and have tried connecting the wireless one to it before just using the "Play n Charge" kit. While it was at least 1 year ago when I did that, it was still pretty stupid to do.
Right now I have two brand new black wired ones cause the two white wireless ones the Xbox 360 came with are broken already with pretty "normal" use.
I would actually recommend using a wired Xbox 360 controller cause it's pretty reliable if you treat it well enough. Never used MotionInJoy and never will.

Best way: wirelessx360 controller + that usb adapter for PC.
Even though my dualshocks do work awesome too with bluetooth (+ MotionJoy), the x360 wireless one just is more reliable and has a better range (+ I hate wires, excluding my mouse, that HAS to be wired :p)

Those are plugged into my computer, which are behind my desk... Beside a mouse & keyboard I don't see a single wire here. Even the hdmi cable which goes to my TV to the other side of the room is hidden :p

Getting a wired x360 controller now just seems 'oldschool' since the wireless ones work awesome imo. But hey, maybe people on a console also complain about a wireless controller just like I do when playing a FPS on PC with a wireless mouse, especially in FPS games. I don't play FPS with a controller since it feels retarded :p
