I'm willing to pay for only one or the other. I already own Mass Effect 2, but I know nothing about the Dragon Age games. The pack contains Dragon Age: Origins, the Awakening expansion pack, and all of the DLC. Which one's a better game, and/or what are the pros and cons of each?

Dragon Age Pack all the way if you even remotely like D&D RPG.

ME3 is great, but if you haven't played Dragon Age, then you have to.

Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition or Mass Effect 1 and 2.

Mass effect 3 is action rpg, with some coop multiplayer
Dragon ages are solelly single player hardcore RPGs
Get both :x
p.s. if you get DA pack, dont forget to get all promo dlcs, and for ME3 get extended ending free dlc + free MP ones (from within origin)

Are the quests in Dragon Age a lot more interesting than Skyrim's? (if the answer's yes, then this question may sound silly, but I got bored of Skyrim really quickly)

Dragon Age is a bit... different.
It's more like Mass Effect. Skyrim is rather different.
It's just in a different setting with a different story.
Take out the biotics and add magic instead.
Take out the guns and add swords and staffs.

Dragon Age pack.
Dragon Age will always be my baby, no matter how much I love the Mass Effect series and the last title.

I may have liked Mass Effect 3, but I guess most people were disappointed by it.

Dragon Age for sure.

I only play Mass Effect 3 for the multiplayer, single player is so bad.

If you want one of the best RPGs of the last years with awesome story and many different playstyles you should pick dragon age...
Awakening is a little bit "meh" but the other dlcs are really good.

Dragon Age Origins is one of the best games of all time. Enough said.

Mass Effect 3 is great continuation of Mass Effect 2. Gameplay mechanics are refined and it has a great multiplayer horde mode. The ending is controversial, but for many largely frustrating and disappointing. Personally, I thought the writing was really poor for the end.

Still, you can't go wrong with either, they're both fantastic games.

I hope you know about the dragon age pack on GMG for 8$ with the code GMG20-8MUTY-M21VN (or atleast I think that code works, if not its still 10$).

Here

But I never played either of the series so I cant input on that.

Ahh yea didn't even notice it. Could probably find a reputable trader to still get it cheaper if one wanted. Also its an origins key but I dont think OP minds as he is considering mass effect 3.

Mass effect 3 honestly had threadbare RPG stuff, as much as you'll find in action games these days

You can't really go wrong with both. Mass Effect is a great triology with a controversial ending that even got patched by Bioware. Dagon Age Origins is probably one of the best RPG ever made, but the sequel is just far worse than the first. (but still better than other shit). And since DA comes with all DLCs and ME3 not, I'd recommend DA.

With the DA pack you will atleast get Origins (Damn fine game). Mass effect 3 on the other hand...no just no.

Dragon Age: Origins. /thread
Seriously though, I highly enjoyed the ME game series. But it doesn't compare, imo, to DA:O.
To me, DA:O was so very well done, it keeps company with some of the most beloved CRPGs, Baldur's Gate 1&2, Planescape: Torment, KotOR, and Fallout 1/2, and so on. It's easily one of my all time favorite RPGs. Dragon Age 2 was a huge disappointment, coming off of DA:O, so I won't even comment further on that. And as good as the ME games are, they don't compare to DA:O in many ways. The story of DA:O feels epic in scope, which many don't anymore. That's about the one place ME can compare. Past that, the actual RPG functions are real in DA:O. You have real customization and skill options. For instance, even though it was generally suggested only for Rogue builds (And in DA2 is Rogue exclusive), I have dual wield on a Fighter in DA:O and actually made it work incredibly well. And when it comes to the idea of making choices that actually matter, DA:O does a much better job, not only with companion interactions, but with the world as well. I'd say more about that latter part, but it'd be a serious spoiler.
So yes, I whole heartedly recommend DA:O over ME3, not because I'm one of the group that raged about the ME3 ending, but because DA:O is honestly (to me) a much better, and much more complete (and much longer overall) game experience.

Dragon age - ME3 even with the extended cut version of the ending has some elements which need more explaining. And while we get some explanation in the Leviathan DLC, the whole thing becomes even more mind-bogglingly stupid.

Thanks, guys, this is all great advice. I think that it's pretty obvious which game I should pick, so I'll go pick up the Dragon Age pack in a few moments :-)
