So I am attending my college orientation, starting tomorrow. So, with the dribbles I have left, I decided to make THIS to celebrate a (hopefully) successful orientation, a rather delayed acceptance to college, as well as a premature first day of college!

I will be attending the University of Michigan and I hope to attain my Master's in Computer Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. So my question to you is ... what college do/did you go to (or hope to attend one day)? Also, if you feel so inclined, what did you major and/or minor in?

(Also want to apologize in advance if the giveaways haven't started yet when you're reading this, feared this might be the only length of free time I'd get in the next few days. However they do start when my orientation starts, so I am keeping with the theme.)

NOTE: All GAs are Steam gifts so I will be adding the winner on Steam!

The GAs start in 2 0 hrs. Sorry, not sure why I didn't just have them start right away ... maybe I'm crazy.

Hope I won't forget checking back when this ends... I went to a german university before they started using the names bachelor/master over here, so I have a german university degree in informatics. I prefer that name to computer science cause it's more about information, logic, etc than actual computers... After all, we don't call astronomy "telescope science" either ;-)

Oh, and I have a minor in theoretical medicine... I know, sounds weird, don't question it, it doesn't mean much...

Good luck in college. And uh, as a guy who recently finished a college, it sucks if you're not in the right place. And I was not. xD

Congrats and good luck. I went to Georgia Tech and major in Biomedical Engineering. Michigan is a great school. I have a friend there right now going through Ortho residency.

Starting GA Tech myself in August! It came down to there and Vanderbilt for me but I ended up deciding on it.

Good luck on that buddy. Ga tech is really hard. Are you from Ga? Great school but hard as heck. Good times though.

Yeah, Gwinnett County. I've never been able to pay attention in any classes due to attention deficit issues-- I just kinda zone out after a few minutes-- so that should be interesting at Tech.

Nice nice, I'm from GA too. Tech is a great school. You made the right decision. Get ready to fail tons of tests though lol.

Something similar as with SilentGuy: I have a single university diploma, in Electrical Engineering. The English page in the certificate says it is an M.Sc., but I have no separate B.Sc.

I went to Oregon State for three years, but never found anything in which to major. As such, I took a wide variety of classes, which was interesting, but absolutely no use when it came to declaring a major. Unfortunately, my situation was quite different from the typical college student (went from Iraq to campus in a matter of months) so my time was spent more on the failed transition to normal life than on my studies. While my grades were still good enough to continue on, with a mountain of debt already piled up and no real progress, I thought it best to leave and get a job.

Of my many regrets, going straight back to college from the military is easily my biggest. I should've taken some time to work and readjust to normal life, rather than choosing a path that makes it all too easy to hide away and let my social skills atrophy.

In all sincerity, I wish you the best of luck and hope it ends up being everything that you want. Don't end up a broken, lonely old man with a dead-end job like me.

than you found SG? ;)
on a serious note, army is very different than normal life.
where i'm from most take a year (sometimes more) off and go on a trip for that whole duration.
it's called "an after army trip". sounds better in hebrew ;)

from what i gathered, you are smart, i guess going back to uni won't be a problem for you

I wouldn't be able to join the army if I wanted to. Asthma is an instant "No" for any branch from what I understand.

depends where. i'm pretty sure you can join where i'm from.
and it depends how severe is your asthma...

About as severe as it can get, here in the US it's a no.

Going back and doing the schooling wouldn't be a problem, but I spent years paying off my college debts and I'm not eager to start piling them up again. That was a stone around my neck for many years and part of the reason I'm in my current predicament.

I had to suspend my education in university. It's been a long time, but I really hope things will get better so I will be able to go back there. I will start again from beginning tho.

Anyway, good luck for you. I hope you will finish you educational journey wothout any setbacks or bumps ;)
